I’m of the opposite opinion. Taking away the early bird is what started the snowball effect of people backing out of the Ghostrider crowdfund. They want people to sign up early and you don’t get charged until it gets funded I believe.

You're not charged technically, but they put the funds under a pending status until the end date.  It's functionally no different than being charged up front.

Mattel today is holding a live-stream doing a deep dive on their Masters Of The Universe Origins Eternia Playset campaign. With just over 7 days to go before ending it has 8,313 Backers. It needs 10k backers to unlock the second stretch goal for the Keclar, leader of the Elders Origns figure.

They announced the King Grayskull will now be included for everyone if the campaign gets to 10k backers. Grayskull was originally offered as an early bird figure for those who backed it in the first week.

They also said the figures will be individually packaged on their own collectible cardbacks and the playset will include it's own mini-comic.

Wow, i cant believe all the complaining about Mattel making King Grayskull available to all if it hits 10k.

Yeah, kinda douchey, but some hardcore collectors, especially in these throwback lines, are all about the rarity of items like this. I can see both sides. What works better, making it exclusive for the early backers to get a short produced item or making it available to late comers who may not back the project otherwise? Either way, I pretty much see this "Early Bird" trend in the same way as @JayC said in his video. If they (any company) continues with this it's just gonna open up a can of worms that might actually alienate fans rather than energize them.

Though King Grayskull is back in play, he's not a guarantee yet for those who backed after the initial time to get him ran out. Has to hit 10k for that to happen. Also, for those who jumped in early, its still a good thing, as these new backers could guarantee you get Keclar and they'll get Grayskull. Mutually beneficial.

Maybe they should differentiate the early bird king grayskulls from the 10k king grayskulls. Either with something on the cardback, a packed-in accessory or with the figure itself. Something minor anyway.

Good point about mutual benefit

Mattel's Masters Of The Universe Origins Eternia Playset campaign has come to an end. The final total of backers for it was 9,286.

Since the campaign did not reach 10k Backers, the Origins Keclar, leader of the Elders figure WILL NOT be included at all and only those who backed the campaign in the first week will get the Origins King Grayskull figure.

Everyone who backed the campaign will get the articulated Moat Monster figure since the campaign did surpass 8k backers and of course the Eternia playset itself will move into production since it surpassed the minimum 5k Backers needed.

While this crowdsourcing campaign was more successful than Hasbro's Marvel Legends Engine Of Vengeance one that ended last month in complete failure, it's hard to consider this one a total success since it failed to meet all it's goals. Of course the fact that several other high-priced Masters of the Universe related products went up for sale around the time as this playset did such as Mondo's 1/6 scale $500 Battle Cat and Mattel's own $300 Shogun Masters figures probably didn't help things either.

To say that this campaign wasn't a huge success with almost 9,300 backers is ridiculous. We got an effing classic Eternia out of it for God's sake and a couple of bonus items. This was an enormous success. We'll get the other figure down the line but not just this go round. Huge win for the line and collectors.
