Looks great. I was only going to get one but the more I see it the more I realize that I've got to get a second. I can't believe it's got almost 20K backers!

I wonder if that's actually a lot for Hasbro. I heard in an interview somewhere that they usually order over 100,000+ units of figures for their mass retail lines. For a crowd funding project its great but I'm hoping they release vehicles for the mass market so it'd be cheaper.

The whole point of the Haslab is it allows them to release things they basically can't get released at retail because they can produce it in smaller numbers than they would if it was a general release. No compared to a general release item this isn't a lot, but that's because retailers like Walmart and Target have little interest in carrying something that takes up so much shelf space and costs so much. And its Walmart and Target that would have to carry it to have any hope of selling anywhere near those kind of production numbers. If Walmart and or Target carried this the likely outcome is they would sit on shelves collecting dust until discounted and clearanced out. That outcome of course would be great for collectors but not for the manufacturer and retailers.

Hasbro today held a special Instagram Live-Stream for their G.I.Joe Classified 6" scale Cobra H.I.S.S. Tank Haslab campaign. They released a new updated image for the Retro Cobra Commander 6" Classified figure that will be included with the tank. With less than 24 hours to go before the campaign ends it currently has 22,238 Backers.

To those of you who are veteran Haslab backers:

When does it usually charge? Is it immediately at campaign end, 24 hours later ("one day"), or some time in between?

Since its funded, you will be charged now.

The backing email says:

"If the G.I. Joe Classified Series Cobra H.I.S.S. is successfully backed, your method of payment on file will be charged the day after the campaign ends." So not an immediate charge, but close to it.

So the only way to get the nice retro Commander is to buy the overpriced tank?? @##@@ thieves.

This will not be the only way to get a “nice retro” deco’d Cobra Commander. In fact, we’ll probably get a “better” one.

While this figure is styled like the vintage and even cartoon inspired this is a very particular version. The chest emblem mimics a rare early “misprint”.

So yeah… if you want this specific homage then you’re gonna need to back the HasLab*. But there is no doubt that Hasbro is going to reuse this mold with a proper Cobra logo in the not too distant future.

*Or wait in till they start popping up on Ebay by the thousands. My guess is a significant portion of backers will try and sell this “error” version of Cobra Commander to recoup some of the cost**. But with 20k backers I doubt they’ll even be able to get much more than a deluxe figures price.

** It’s certainly my plan

TL;DR, you’ll have reasonable options

Plus at the SDCC panel, fans were told that Hasbro has a strict rule on the boxed items' sizes. In this case, the HISS will definitely exceed their limits, which is a huge no to general releases.

I really can’t wait to get this…. I had the 2nd hiss tank I believe (gray) and it was my favorite joe vehicle. I remember getting it at brandlees one year when they did some midnight sale when they opened at midnight. I got this and the mud fighter with dog fighter … 4 in the back, 2 in the front and 1 up top loved that. Might be more excited for this than Galactus, both turtle vans, thunder tank, elite ring transformers saber…. This is snake mountain level excitement and excrement shooting all over the walls as I worry how I’m going to keep collecting with prices this high… aeh throw it on a card and worry about it later. I’ll just feed the dogs and fill up on city water.

I'm really wishing I'd gotten two, but I just don't have the space for it (don't really have the space for one right now, either).  Emily said on IG that the numbers will be adjusted up, because they don't include overseas retailer orders that were done where Hasbro Pulse isn't a thing, so there is a possibility that the Hiss Tank could potentially overtake Galactus in the next few weeks.

When will this C.C. be available?

With the "Mickey Mouse" logo and exclusive with the HISS tank? Sometime next year. A retail version with a normal Cobra logo? Likely sometime after the HISS tank is mailed out to backers. Unknown right now.
