DC Multiverse 7" The Batman Figures From McFarlane Toys Revealed

These figures are a bit forgettable to me, but then the main figures are Batman, Riddler, Penguin, & Catwoman in full costume. Everything else is just a money grab. I'm expecting an unmasked Riddler at some point, plus Alfred, Gordon, & maybe the big surprise villain that is rumored to make an appearance late in the movie.

I wonder if WB considers umbrellas dangerous and will be banned,

They allow swords, axes, and endless crowbars, surely they would allow an umbrella.  It's more likely that the trick umbrellas---though a staple of the character since his creation----is just not "realistic" and serious enough and won't even make it to the movie at all.

I might just get the Batman figure with his corresponding bike.

Same here.  There's no "wait to see how I like the movie" for me.  I'm getting at least the masked Pattinson Batman no matter what because I have at least one of every live-action Batman movie actor in figure form.  I'd take a George Clooney if/when someone makes him.  I'm not breaking the streak.  Plus I do like how the masked Batman looks.  Side eyes don't bother me as much as I thought they would.

Like many others, I think those unmasked Wayne heads look pretty bad.  "Drifter" Bruce has no appeal to me, it looks like a pillow is stuffed in his jacket.  If I get Catwoman it will probably be the unmasked one, I think she looks alright.

I completely agree with you bro! I don't like those unmasked bruce figures at all, they suck. But I am a completist with every live action Batman figure too! I wish they made a better Val Kilmer one, I'd even take the Clooney one too, he was not a bad Batman, the film and it's writing was bad, can't blame that on him.

I'm surprised and grateful they made ANY Val Kilmer Batman at all.  Yes the figure has flaws; the head could be better and the cape---like all of Mattel's flat, static vinyl capes----stinks, but I don't imagine another version of Val Batman coming anytime soon.

And though I'm excited for McFarlane's PattinBat, if I want him to scale with all of my other movie Batmans I'm going to have to go high end and get a Mafex or a Mezco when they make theirs.

You are right. Although the Pattinbat would scale with Batfleck and if McFarlane made any other Batmen. I'm hoping he does a Keaton Batman. Yes you're right if you have other figures in the 6 inch true scale, then yes, we'll have to wait on Mafex or Mezco...and then wait some more if ever showcased lol.

The wave includes Penguin as well as unmasked versions of Batman and Catwoman. Besides that there are two new 12" posed statues of Batman and Riddler. I would hope so, but keeping things in consistent scale hasn’t been an area where McFarlane has excelled so far.

Constant Batman action figures from McFarlane Toys.  And now multiple variants.  McFarlane Toys is handling their DC Comics toy license more and more like how Mattel did.  This, unfortunately, is what happens with a DC Comics toy license where WB mandates that each wave must either have a Batman or a Superman.  WB might be willing to do a Bat-family member or a Superman family member, like what was done with the DC Classics line.

DC Comics is about 5 seconds away from going into bankruptcy. The only comics titles that sell are Batman related. Action Comics and that new one with his son aren't even in the top 50 in sales, so they're in trouble. This is why they pound on the Batman drum so much. Also, McFarlane is in this to make money, and Batman is what sells, so he's going to go heavy with it. Every company produces countless variants of Batman, so this is nothing new. Kenner literally produced over 200 different Batmans from 1989 into the 90s and Mattel did their fair share. I'd say Mattel's Multiverse line was much more diverse than anything McFarlane has done, but McFarlane is focusing on more modern versions that fall in line with his preferred aesthetic. He should take that DC Icons license he has now and get to work relaunching it as the 6" line that it is and give Marvel Legends a run for it's money. Basically DC Universe but revamped using modern engineering and paint. There's a hole in DC 6" and it needs filling.

McFarlane's Batman-centric toys aren't surprising since this movie is getting one of the biggest pushes by Warner Brothers in some time. The studio is very bullish on its success stemming from the overwhelming response it has gotten by preview audiences. As far as DC Comics going bankrupt, I don't think we'll see them going out of business anytime soon. Batman and his supporting cast will continue to be popular with both collectors and the general public for many years to come. Batman is definitely a part of American culture.

I do think McFarlane has made a huge effort to make a lot of other DC characters in this line. Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern & several other superheroes have been released by Todd. Heck, his Swamp Thing is amazing.
