In January we gave you a look at the new 5" Star Trek figures coming from Playmates Toys. For Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan (James T. Kirk, Captain Spock, and Khan Noonien Singh), Star Trek The Next Generation (Lt. Commander Data, Captain Jean-Luc Picard, and Commander William Riker) and Star Trek Discovery (Commander Saru and Science Officer Michael Burnham) figures. They are also doing the USS Enterprise from The Original Series.

Today we bring you images via Steve Adams from the 2022 London Comic Con where Playmates had their Next Generation, TOS Enterprise and Discovery figures on display which you can check out below.

You can pre-order all of these from our sponsor Entertainment Earth.

It looks like they took the stands from the JJ figures.

Accessories look like from the original playmates toys.

Figures and Sculpts look new.

I have all of the playmates Toys from Star Trek including the ships. But 5 inch figures?now?

I might buy the Star Trek next generation figures to go in with my old collection.

We need to see what that ship looks like and what it does.

For myself I am definitely not interested in anything from discovery.

These things look terrible. They look like 90's action figures but with more (not necessarily better) articulation. Just look at those thigh gaps. Holy Hell. Playmates has never been that good at "High Articulation", but damn they gotta do better than this. And what's up with those face sculpts? Everyone looks like Data but with different pigmentation and facial hair. A franchise like Star Trek deserves better than this. Hardcore Trekkies are gonna get these cuz they have nowhere else to go, but for guys like me, fans but not fanatical, we're gonna see this one as nothing at all is better than money spent on bad, subpar product.

Playmates Toys has finally revealed their final 5" figure for their first wave of Star Trek: Prodigy toy line with Hologram Janeway. The other figures in the wave which we first saw a year ago include Dal R'El with Murf, Gwyndala, Zero and Pog. These figures are available for pre-order from our sponsors BigBadToyStore.com and Entertainment Earth.

Besides the figures Playmates toys will be doing a vehicle based on the starship the U.S.S. Prodigy and for their line of gear a phaser. They have yet to release any official images for those products but hopefully will soon.

Star Trek: Prodigy is an animated series that recently finished up it's first season on Paramount+. While it is made with kids in mind it's actually some of the better written modern Star Trek out there. It is considered cannon and is based around the same time period as the Picard series. Figure figures and vehicles will scale with the other recent Star Trek offerings Playmates has released which includes a handful of figures from the live-action stuff, classic Enterprise vehicle and phaser from the Original Series. I believe these also scale fairly well with the older Playmates Star Trek stuff from the 90s.

I'd be ecstatic if one of the toy companies could do decent figures of the original Star Trek cast in 6" form for $24.99 each or less. These are just not worth bothering with.

The Prodigy figures work in the style, bit I really wish someone would make some nice adult collector Star Trek figures.

Honestly, I can get the vintage ones for less and these just really aren't doing it for me like those did.

Shown below are final images for the Playmates Toys 5" Star Trek: Prodigy wave 1 figures. Shown are Dal R'El with Murf, Gwyndala, Zero and Pog. These figures are now listed on Amazon for pre-order with mid-May release dates.

These figures are also available at our sponsors BigBadToyStore.com and Entertainment Earth.

There will also be a Hologram Janeway figure coming which is not currently available on Amazon nor have we seen the final images for that one. It will likely see release at some later time possible when they also release the Protostar Starship vehicle from the show as well as a Phaser role-play item. Playmates has yet to release any images for the vehicle or role-play item.
