New 1/10 The Centurions Figures Coming?

Looks like another 80's toyline is set to make a comeback of sorts. A company called Ramen Toy posted this image for new 1/10 scale figures which translates to around 7" tall. They say the figures which will be sold separately will be released sometime this year.

From the image you can see the figures appear to be based on the designs from the classic Centurions: Power Xtreme animated series which first premiered back in 1986. The designs for some of the characters from this show were actually done by legendary comic book artist Jack Kirby. The show had a toyline from Kenner and a comic book series from DC Comics.

Now I should note Ramen Toy who appears to be an overseas company never actually refers to these figures as Centurions, so it's unclear if these are officially licensed products or not. Ramen lists themselves as a company who consists of fans from the 80s making collectibles from the 80s.

The three figures they show appear to be based on the characters of Sea Operations Commander Max Ray (Green), Daring' Air Operations Expert Ace McCloud (blue) and Rugged' Land Operations Specialist Jake Rockwell (yellow).

The premise of the original show was that a group of guys called The Centurion who joined with exo-suits that they after shouting the words "PowerXtreme". Their slogan was man and machine, Power Xtreme. The show took place in the 21st Century and they fought a cyborg mad scientist named Doc Terror who wanted to take over the world.

No other details on these new figures are yet available like price and where or how they will be sold. Again while these are clearly based on The Centurions designs from the 80's, it's not clear if these are officially licensed The Centurions figures or not. We will update when more detailsbecome available.

Back in January we told you how a company called Ramen Toys was trying to launch a new line of figures called 80s Commander. While not seeming to be officially licensed, the figures are clearly meant to be a modern version of the classic 80's Centurions series.

Since then the company has released some new updated images showing off the first prototypes for the three figures (Sea Operations Commander Max Ray (Green), Daring' Air Operations Expert Ace McCloud (blue) and Rugged' Land Operations Specialist Jake Rockwell (yellow)) they are doing.

Originally the figures were said to be 7" but then they changed it to 6". They also say the prototype of the Air Commander figure is missing a part that will be added later on. Since this is a relatively unknown company and the products don't appear to be officially licensed, I would recommend waiting and seeing if any reputable etailers decide to carry these before plopping any money down on them, but for now you check out their new images below.

Yeah it's cool to see that they changed the scale, I'm not sure about these though in terms of it's a new company and the property isn't licensed (that could be a huge problem), I have a feeling these may never come out, or won't for years and sit in limbo, only to come out and fizzle.

I just want to state because this is a relatively unknown company and these figures seem to be unlicensed, if it were me I would be very hesitant to pay any kind of significant money for these unless they ended up getting sold through a known  retailer.  Thats me of course.

Well, why not?, however someone would have to remind Hasbro that they hold the IP, because being an IP that used to belong to Kenner Hasbro must be the owner now, right?.

Warner Brothers owns the rights for the animation...
