Can't say I'm surprised. Supergirl started out as one of the best superhero shows, but with the move to the CW it became total garbage.

My personal take, Berlanti is learning what Disney learned with Star Wars. You can fly your flags, climb on your soap-boxes, and play to your agendas, but at the end of the day, that's not what people want . . . especially now.

The real disappointment here? I really loved Benoist in the role, and I held out hope that Berlanti would get his walking papers and somebody would come along and course correct. Sadly, not the case.

That just leaves The Flash, Batwoman, Black Lightning, and the garbage fire I'm sure Superman and Lois will turn out to be. Just cancel 'em all. Clear the deck and start over with Stargirl.

The excessive wokenes and poor storytelling killed this. After Crisis it was impossible to watch.

Good riddance.

Hope Superman is better.

Ah I am surprised it lasted as long as it did, I watched the first 3 seasons, and I really liked it in the beginning, but it really fell off it's horse and didn't get back on it, Melissa was awesome, and I loved Martian Manhunter, but I'm not too sad it's over, because well I stopped watching, now Melissa can move on and do some different stuff.

Ah the pleasure of reading two people attack "excessive wokeness" or whatever nonsense excuse that highlight privilege and fragility. Ugh,  the toxicity and casual bigotry of certain people in the fandom just sucks.

Y'all look look real suspect being okay with aliens/spaceships/etc..but being salty at people using the platform that they can to seek equality and justice...for actual damned real people

This is why we can't have nice things...

I must admit I will miss this show. It was great at first but then it slowly succumbed over the past couple of years to the political correctness of the other Berlanti shows.

Melissa Benoist is a great actress (IMO) and was always wonderful in the role. She has been the best part of the show for a while now.

Hopefully she will move on to bigger and better things where she can shine and show her true talent.

Artists say you never give up on a painting, then again, sometimes all you can do is throw on a new coat of gesso and start over from scratch.

The show had a good concept, but Berlanti whizzed that down his leg when he hijacked the thing and turned it into his personal propaganda machine. The damage was done, the only recourse was to turn out the lights and walk away.

Ok....entitled people keep making sideways comments. If the show sucked...it sucked.  It's pretty easy.  Addressing real world issues in a show other bothers salty white people.  That's not the reason the show was cancelled.  I hate the toxic white mentality and I wish it would die a horrible death.  Like I said...people like (now I'll name names) Mako, Lazrod, and Fasvb can somewhere with that garbage.  It's a stupid rationale that sadly seems to have take root in the genre.  We can't have nice stuff because of people like y'all.

Alright, let's give a little credit where it's due. The first 2 seasons were okay. The story was decent, but what they really did is introduce the general public to a whole mess of DC heroes and villains in a much better and expanded way than anything Marvel Studios did. They did the whole girl power thing pretty well without being too preachy, but boy oh boy, did they lose it after that. The final nail in the coffin is where they had the crossover show and the female Batwoman #$## slaps the female Alex because she spoke over the female Supergirl. Melissa Benoist was a great casting decision, but she got hosed for those last few seasons. You can't tell me she didn't see the writers flushing this series down the toilet in front of her eyes. I wouldn't have been surprised if she'd bailed like Ruby Rose did, but I think she was too far into this thing that it probably would collapse her career. On the lighter side, I think she'd be a hell of a lot better Captain Marvel than the current.

Considering I can remember entire episodes going all the way back to season 2 where Supergirl was little more than a background character, I say Melissa has gotten hosed for most of the series.

That being said, the woman sings, acts, she's hot while still exuding a girl-next-door likability, and has an impressive fan-boy following: the CW is crazy if they send her packing.

Despite what some are saying here, it wasn't "excessive wokeness" (that's a word?) that killed the show. Frankly 6 seasons is pretty damn good considering (I'm astounded they're going ahead with this Superman show, when the actor looks like some puny, poorly costumed clown who couldn't lift a barbell, let alone a car).  It, like Arrow, really ran its course. The massive storyline plot holes and writers' superhero fatigue, cheesy dialogue, the struggle to film with the budget truly required for a show like this (and clearly the studio's desire to cut costs) not to mention the impact of covid, called an end to it. But it was an overall enjoyable bit of entertainment. Always had my problems with the show, but to her credit, Melissa Benoist was able (most of the time) to pull it off. And remember, I'm the guy who generally cant stand "copy cat" characters.

Imagine Flash is not long for the CW world, leaving Black Lightning, Legends and Stargirl. Good luck to all.

(Not counting Batwoman 'cuz that show is toast, new actress or no. Its not salvageable and was pointless to begin with)

I could never get into it, and not for lack of trying.  Someday I will sit down and try again to burn through the show on netflix (is it still on netflix?)

Personally, I don't think any show should last more than 6-7 seasons.  After that, it's time to start thinking about wrapping it up.  I feel this is a good run.

Yep, still on Netflix. If you're not sure about taking the dive though, don't waste much time struggling with the decision. Even ignoring the sociopolitical issues, the writing alone is worthy of a hard pass. I've seen porn parodies with better storytelling.

You're talking salty nonsense.  What "sociopolitical issues" are you talking about?  Just say say you just want stuff to make white people feel comfortable and save everyone the trouble of your privileged nonsense.  Dude stop....your casual bigotry is showing and in 2020 that bs needs to die.  Go watch a 1970s show if you are going to be like this.

If it suck...it sucks.

It doesn't suck because it addresses issues you don't think are important.
