NECA today rounding out their Comic-Con At Home coverage released a few teaser images for upcoming products so that we might guess what they are. The first tease they posted were some images of weapons.

They-Live-02__scaled_600.jpg

This one seems fairly obvious. Our best guess would be that these weapons are for more 8" Retro figures based on the movie "They Live". The Shotgun looks very much like the one coming with the 8" Cloth Retro Nada figure they have coming out very soon.

They-Live-03__scaled_600.jpg

We are thinking maybe a new 2-pack with a second version of Nada and Frank Armitage. Of course we would love to see NECA do 7" Ultimate figures based on They Live, but the 8" Cloth Retro figures seem more likely.

The-Boys-01__scaled_600.jpg

The second tease is obviously some kind of heat vision effect piece. Since NECA has previously done DC Comic based figures, you might think this was a tease for some kind of new Superman figure. Based on conversations I've had with NECA, I don't think any more DC Comic based figures are in the cards for them anytime soon, but there is another super being who is well know for using heat vision. Meet Homelander from the hit Amazon series titled "The Boys".

The Boys which basically tells a story about superheroes going rogue will soon see the release of a second on the Amazon streaming service, and has already been renewed for a third season. If you haven't seen season 1, we highly recommend you check it out.

So our best guess is that NECA is teasing that they have obtained the license to do figures based on this series and if so, we hope they go the 7" Ultimate route as opposed to the 8" Retro Cloth one.

And I will just say if the tease ends up being for Brightburn, I will be disappointed.

Agreed.......like you, Astro City to me was pretty good.

I was referring to the toy line...Do you remember the line? It was pretty pitiful IMHO

I think the company was called Z toys or something.  Remember?

Like you Astro City was nice. Maybe a NEW Astro City  Show and Toy Line is the ticket =^)

I remember seeing a figure of Samaritan in a comic shop once. I would have purchased it but you're right it wasn't very well made. I would but a Samaritan figure if it was made as well as marvel legends figures.

Back in July we told you how we thought NECA might be teasing figures based on the hit Amazon series The Boys. Well it turns out we were right. Sony today sent out a press released talking about various products that will be coming ahead of the second season's premiere. In that release they state NECA will be doing a 7" figure based on the homicidal Superman type character named Homelander and Starlight. For now it looks like those two are the only figures slated for release, but hopefully we will see more figures from this property done down the road. The press release also states that NECA is working on a special product for consumers around the fan-favorite character Laser Baby from the first season. Not sure what that is but doesn't sound like a action figure. Hopefully NECA will be releasing images of the figure soon.

See the entire press release below:

Ahead of the highly-anticipated second season premiere of “The Boys” on September 4 on Amazon Prime Video, Sony Pictures Consumer Products (SPCP) is helping fans celebrate (or not celebrate) the ‘Supes’ with a robust line of consumer products offerings, including apparel, accessories, collectible toys, costumes, novelty and home goods. The show’s initial wave of products is being sold on its home platform on the Vought International themed storefront on Amazon. Select products are now available on Amazon with additional products being released throughout the year and in 2021.

Additionally, Amazon X-Ray is offering a one-of-a-kind, interactive shopping experience for fans by giving them the opportunity to purchase products they see during the second season and on the new weekly after-show “Prime Rewind: Inside the Boys.” Using web, mobile or Fire TV, fans will be able to spot exclusive t-shirts and plush that they can take home for themselves.

“’The Boys’ has an unconventional yet captivating storyline around superheroes that you can’t find anywhere else, and we are extremely proud of the success the show has received so far. With season two coming up and season three greenlit already, we’ve been working fast and furiously to bring fans around the world products they can use to express their true fandom.” said Jamie Stevens, EVP, Worldwide Consumer Products, Sony Pictures Entertainment. “We are thrilled by the support and seamless collaboration of all our licensees to help deliver products across various categories and allow fans to support the show in many ways.

With the unique in-viewing shopping experience that Amazon is offering, we are sure that the opportunity presents even more meaningful purchases for fans.

well I like this news! , I'm sure Homelander and Starlight are just the 1st two figures , and granted the figures sell well and there is a demand I'm sure we will see other characters, I know they arn't going to not give us a Billy Butcher that is who everyone wants

I hope neca doesn't only do Homelander and Starlight figures, I really want them to make more of the cast.

Was hoping for a Homelander reveal on Friday to coincide with the premier of season two but NECA says the cape isn't ready. Who knows though maybe a Starlight reveal can be made.

I saw the movie Men at Work on HBO when I was ten and thought he was absolutely hilarious.  He also seemed very familiar, and I couldn't figure out why.  Being ten years old, I had yet to see The Thing, They Live, or Platoon.  I came to find out later than he had been in several episodes of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood when I was four years old.

Yeah......

Really, really talented actor....

He was the "Real Dope" in The Thing and Platoon....

"All you got to do is make it out of here, and it's all gravy. Every day, the rest of your life, gravy"...

A Keith David Platoon Classic =^)

Back in September NECA officially announced they would be doing 7" figures based on the hit Amazon Prime series The Boys stating off with doing figures of the Superman-like character Homelander and lead female character Starlight.

Today as a holiday treat they revealed for the first time images of the two figures which you can check out below. We still don't have many specific details for the figures like a release date or a list of all the accessories. Based on these two images we can see the likeness of both figures look really good to the actors as seen in the show. Both seem to have soft-goods capes and Homelander has heat vision. Starlight has glowing eyes and hand, so it will be interesting to see if she will come with an alternate head.

The Starlight figure also appears to be wearing her original less revealing outfit as opposed to the one she starts wearing in latepisodes.

Stay-tuned for more images and details to be released soon.
