NECA's First 2020 SDCC Exclusive Figure Revealed

Recommended Posts

NECA has stated that they would officially start revealing details about this years San Diego Comic Con exclusives next week starting on Tuesday (7/7), but it looks like one of them has already started to see a release at Walmart. Over at the NECA Fan Group Facebook page images have surfaced that gives us a heads up about one of them which appears to be Gremlins based. It's said this figure was found on the shelves at Walmart.

In an interview back in May, Randy Falk said NECA would be offering 4 exclusives this year, one of which would be TMNT based. He also said that the exclusives this year would be offered online and at brick and mortar stores like Target and Walmart, since the actual SDCC convention was canceled this year.

Last week NECA posted a release schedule for upcoming TMNT products at Walmart and Target stores. With that, they listed two TMNT SDCC Excluive items coming to Target stores.

-Exclusive Figure Boxed Set - 7/23
-Exclusive Merchandise Bundle - 7/23

Stay-tuned for more details next week on these and whatever else NECA has planned for Comic-Con exclusives this year.

this is very cool, but how hard will it be to get? , probably hard enough it won't be worth my efforts, also I love the new Gremlin stuff coming out but they are not being very diverse with the deco and designs, every figure lately just seems to be the OG gremlin over and over again, hey Neca instead of all of this re-run business, can we finally get the rest of the line that you ceased to produce yet teased, like Greta, Vegetable, Melting Gremlin etc

Well, they did show Greta again at Toyfair in February and said they could finally make her because of all the cheap '84 Gremlins they've been selling. I just hope she's not an exclusive, too (SDCC, Walmart, or otherwise).  I'd also very much love to see the others finally get released.

Oh man, yes indeed they did show Greta and Tattoo Gremlin at Toyfair 2020, I somehow forgot that, good on reminding me, so now let's hope they keep their word and actually get those out

because I'm not keen on buying anymore classic gremlins, no malibu stacy with a new hat on is going to change that

Word.  I actually didn't buy the Bat Gremlin years ago because I was pissed about the others.  Kind of cutting off my nose to spite my face, but that's how I was operating at the time.  And I haven't bought a single one of the '84 Gremlins.  I just don't feel like they have as much personality as the New Batch.

Everything you said their I agree with, I also didn't end up getting the Bat Gremlin (but for other reasons, mostly ex-girlfriend reasons haha), still do want it

but I myself refused to purchase an 84 gremlin, after they just laughed at us collectors and shut down the new Batch line, I felt pretty spiteful after they teased us with the goods, I kinda boycott their new cash grab collection

I asked about Greta so much on twitter Randy blocked me.  I didn't think it was that much actually, but obviously he did.

wow really, what quality customer service, I don't think it's too hard to give some details to the fans you are trying to service (and get dollars from) to give us a realistic explanation as to why you dangled the bait in the water (for what seemed like a prolonged amount of time) only to pull it up on the boat, then to toss us some recycled tidbits over and over again. They really dropped the ball in the gremlin department over there at neca, we see they can get the product out, look at the predators line 100 figures deep, and they can put out things like Bob Ross and Richard Simmonds, and even a whole set of Golden girls, which I'm sure they took a loss all on, but can't give us a puddle of goo gremlin? they already have the molds for after almost a decade of waiting SMH

I think the first answer I got was that Greta and other New Batch figures would require too much new tooling $$ while the others like George and Lenny weren't selling as well as the company would like, so they were gonna take a pause and "maybe" come back to them.  I then took it upon myself to ask about Greta when the Bat was teased, Spider-Mohawk, regular Mohawk (with the messed up teeth, because they just reused the head from the spider version), the weird concept Mogwai, and a couple others, and then I guess he got sick of it.  Whatever. Combined with poor qc and some really questionable decisions on other figures, I really kinda soured on NECA, but if they put out something I have to have, well, I get it.

Hmmm interesting, I mean I guess it makes sense to not go forward with producing the figures if say the line wasn't doing well, but I mean let's be real Lenny and George were never going to be the big sellers of a Gremlins series, they should have known that,  they clearly played the wrong hands, because if they came out the gate with say Greta or Mohawk they would probably have seen better profits on the line, and gotten the collectors deeper invested as to when say George or Lenny and Daffy came out, people would buy to complete their collection, or could have given em a limited run as a multipack or whatever. It doesn't seem to make much sense they'd be complaining about tooling money when they already have the prototypes and then also to turn around and give us what clearly was even more tooling money a Bat gremlin *shrug* , guess Neca just didn't care any more, and maybe me and you, and a handful were the only loyal gremlins buyers (find that hard to believe)

I also agree I got a bit soured on Neca as a whole awhile back with the QC, for one my Spider Gremlin's leg extension pieces never even attached, most of my Aliens are just gummy messes who won't stand, my predators are mostly missing hands, many Mogwai's heads fell off

anyways after all that I'm still ready to buy Greta and Vegetable Gremlin

Yeah, I hear ya.  Anyway, I don't want this to turn into a NECA bashing thread, so I'll just end for now saying that I'm curious what else they're gonna be putting out for Comic Con, and I hope if it's something cool, it's not totally impossible to get.
