You may or may not know the name, but your will probably recognize his work if you grew up in the 80's playing with action figures. Hector Garrido was the legendary GI Joe Blister Pack Artist for Hasbro's Real American Hero line. He helped bring those figures to life on the shelf pegs found in many toy stores during the 80's. We are sadden to learn that he passed away in his sleep on the 19th of this month. He will be missed, but his work will live on in the hearts and minds of many G.I. Joe fans. YO JOE!

Most of those iconic arts we saw at the toy store in the cards of the figures were done by Hector. I got in love by his work, it gave so much life to the figures... RIP to him!

Toys of course are cool, but so many times it is the box art that sells the toy.  Think of MOTU and how col that box art was.  It is the first thing that draws a kids eyes when he walks down the aisle.  I know it did for me back in the 80s.  Cool vibrant colors, and great packaging would do it.  GI Joe had that!  The packaging art was just beautiful and it made the toy come to life.  So sorry to hear of this passing!!!!
