G.I. Joe: Classified 6" Figure First Look

Recommended Posts

My only gripes are the colors, they are too bright and that Duke doesn't have his helmet, besides that I have no problem with the new designs, I know if the line is successful we will see ARAH idesigns in the future, but for now bring 'em on, crossing my fingers for a Storm Shadow coming soon.

I'm now just waiting for the movie figures to see if they are 3 1/2" figures...

I'm not really interested  in the movie stuff, but besides them I'm really excited for this line. I don't mind the modern designs. I can't wait to see who they do next. A Storm Shadow would be great.

My position on the movie figures is the same, but who knows maybe if I like the designs I'd give them a chance. I can't help thinking that maybe the "scorpion" figure is a Storm Shadow.

Can't wait for these myself, I believe that this is just a beginning, where Black Series seems to be running down with no more movies coming, I can see this line stepping right in and in the same vain they will eventually produce new and old styles of these figures. I cant wait to see so many classics done in 6" form. The want list is way too many to even start mentioning and the prospect of Haslab products down the road is something Im truly hoping for.

I'm not a big GI Joe fan but if I something I like I'll get it. Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Baroness (but not if she's in some spindly form) and Crimson Guard would be my choices. Also what is with these weird code names? What is the point of "dung beetle", "darkling" etc. if they're going to be released under their actual names anyway? Hasbro's announcing theyre making a GI Joe line, so how do these false names matter?

And please don't reply "its to generate curiosity", because that would be stupid. Since, as said before, we already KNOW theyre putting these guys out anyway. Has to be another reason.

Once again, pure marketing. You yourself said you're not a "Big G.I. Joe fan," but you're still asking the questions "What" and "Why." That old ad man's mantra still hold's true: "They can love it or hate it, as long as they are thinking about it."

The use of the code words is because they know they can't prevent these listings from getting out. As to why not just blurt out everything right off the bat,  well Mako is mostly right, marketing. That's not really unique to Hasbro or the toy industry though.

It will be interesting to see if the remaining 3 non-movie based figures in wave 2 turn out to be Gung-Ho, Cobra Commander and Baroness. Hasbro gave out this poster at Toy Fair and you will notice all the wave 1 figures are featured on it which leaves 3 main characters needing figures. Coincidence???

The poster also features some Alley Vipers and Red Ninja like dudes but being their are more background like the vehicles, my money is on the main characters coming first.

I honestly think they're just trying keep the lineups a secret, despite the poster.  They recently did the same thing with Marvel Legend listings.

I was just thinking the same thing, although I was more inclined to assume that the ladybug figure was the baroness, since there are not many classic characters known for the movie, the scorpion figure can be assumed to be Storm Shadow, but it is more wishful thinking and it is not that the code names have a lot to do with the character.

The artwork makes one speculate a lot about what might come in the future, I wonder in which wave we will begin to see troopers, part of the leaked information is that there will be 4 waves for this year.

I'm just pissed off that I missed out on the deluxe edition of Snake Eyes they had on the Hasbro site. They sold out on the pre-order before pay day arrived for me. Not happy, since I'll probably end up paying a stupid amount for one down the road.

On a side note, I really hate the Roadblock figure. The gun is a big part of that, because it looks ridiculous. Beyond that, I think what he's wearing is a bulletproof vest, and it looks ridiculous to me. He still looks like a badass, but he doesn't look as good as Scarlet, Duke, and Snake Eyes.

We are already two in the same situation, the truth is that I didn't grasp the opportunity, I let the time pass but I trust the regular version will be more or less the same (minus the mini arsenal, the rack and the fancy packaging of course).

I don't think we are getting 3 non-movie figures in wave 2, wave one is 5 figures and if they continue that trend we will have 5 for wave 2.  One of those names match Scarlett from wave one so I think we are gettting 3 movies figs 2 non moves figs and a repack of Scarlett.

There's a mistake with the post, there's one figure listed with the code name "mosquito" (a.k.a. Scarlett) in wave 2 as well but if you go to the link of the wholesaler page the code name for the figure is "carpenter ant", also the SKUs are different, so for now and until there is information to prove otherwise, there will be 6 figures for wave 2: 3 movie figures and 3 new non-movie figures.

I hope we get Cobra Commander and Baroness soon.  They're probably my two favorite characters, Cobra or Joe.  I'm not such a big fan of that helmet on CC and find it quite a bit more phallic than other helmets he's had in various media, but I'll gladly buy pretty much any 6" figure of Cobra Commander that doesn't have that stupid transparent helmet from the first live action movie.

Oh man! I’m wondering how Cobra Commander is gonna look! I’m also curious on how they will do Baroness. I bet they will be the two sought after figures.

I’m probably most excited for the Ninjas that they are going to do eventually!!!! Army building for sure!

By looking at the picture is clear to me that Hasbro is focusing on releasing the characters with more prominent artwork in that picture which are Going Ho, Destro, Baroness and Cobra Commander...

Gung-Ho needed an upgrade on his outfit, and going by that poster, they did a good job with it. Destro's head is looking way too shiny. I'm not big on Cobra Commander's redesigned helmet, but I was never a fan of his helmet, (don't even get me started on that armoured suit), I love the hooded look more than anything else. Seeing the Alley Vipers is a bit of a surprise, but a happy one, as I really liked them.

If you say so, but it's still AT LEAST two-and-a-half months till the first series sees release, and we don't even know for sure who all is gonna be in THAT. It just seems a little to early days to discern any kind of pattern in character selection.

True, but it sure is fun trying to guess at what we have to look forward to.

LOL, no offense but why? These are vague walmart listings that no one has any idea what they are. I get Hisstank is making an assumption these are 3 3/4" but there is no evidence at this time to back that up. Maybe they are 3 3/4 or maybe they are Cloth style figures like the classic GIJoe stuff? Often the word Retro is associated with that style of figure. I am trying to do some digging to see if any additional details can be had on these but lets not jump the gun.
