December 15th Tariffs Against China That Were To Effect Toy Industry Canceled Amid The Beginnings Of New Trade Deal Agreement

News about tariffs and trade wars is not something we normally cover here on TNI, but news has come out today stating that China and the US have reached a phase one trade deal that will cancel new proposed tariffs that the Trump administration was planning on implementing against China on December 15. These new tariffs would have directly impacted the toy industry and likely caused toy companies to raise prices on their products.

Negotiations on the next section of a broader agreement are said to begin immediately. The current tariffs of 25 percent that the U.S. previously imposed on $250 billion of Chinese imports will remain in place, along with 7.5 percent duties on another $120 billion worth of goods.

Obviously as things continue to be negotiated and hammered out things could change, but it's definitely good news for the toy industry and those purchasing action figure products that there will be no new tariffs added this Sunday, as was originally feared to happen.

I wonder if the recent price jumps from companies like DC Collectibles has something to do with this. Because their first listed their releases with one price and a few weeks later everything jump price. Hope they reconsider now.

I think it's a safe bet that it does, and I think it's also a safe bet that they won't.

Yea, once they go up, they seldom come back down. Gravity has little bearing on these markets.

Good, hopefully we wont see a real hike on prices. Already having a struggle to afford what I do like, dont want to have to do even less from this.
