Since most who post in this section are YouTubers dealing with content that could very easily based on the COPPA guidelines be seen as made for kids, I wanted to make sure you were aware of the changes happening now. I suggest if you haven't already you listen to this video very carefully and you read over the COPPA guidlines which can be found here.

Now I am not a lawyer so don't take anything I say here as legal advice, but I would suggest if you deal with action figure content in any way on YouTube and are thinking about selecting the option to say to YouTube that your channel is not made for kids, you consult a lawyer who specializes in FTC and COPPA regulations first and see what they say before doing anything. Don't just assume if YouTube doesn't change your videos to "made for kids" on their own with the algorithm, that means its safe from being in violation of the COPPA regulations. In the video above YouTube basically says its not their job to make that determination for you, and you need to do it yourself.

The COPPA Guidelines are very important here because I believe that is what the FTC would use to determine whether your content is in violation or not. I don;t think it will be  based on your personal opinion, and if you were to be found in violation, reports have indicated you could be facing fines in the neighborhood of $42k a video.

Again if you plan on continuing to have content up on YouTube (new or old) and allow YouTube to continue running targeted ads on that content (which is essentially what your doing if you say your channel or videos "aren't made for kids"), and after reading the COPPA guidelines have any doubts as to where your content lies, I would seek out the consultation of a lawyer.

You can also go to the FTC's website until December 9 and leave a comment explaining why you feel your content isn't made for kids and ask them to be more specific with their guidelines on this. I don't know how much good it will do, but it certainly can't hurt things. This is the link to the FTC comment page on this matter.
