CBS All Access dropped a new trailer for Captain Jean-Luc Picard's very own stand-alone series, Star Trek: Picard today during their panel at 2019 San Diego Comic-Con.

The Star Trek: Picard series follows the captain in the next chapter of his life.  Sir Patrick Stewart plays the lead of Captain Jean-Luc Picard with Alison Pill, Harry Treadaway, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera, Michelle Hurd  and newcomer Evan Evagora also star.  Michael Chabon is credited as showrunner and executive producer along with Akiva Goldsman and Alex Kurtzman, Stewart, James Duff, Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth.

Producers and cast revealed that Picard will also feature fellow The Next Generation cast Brent Spiner, Jonathan Del Arco and Jonathan Frakes and Voyager‘s Jeri Ryan in the new series.

The panel for Star Trek: Lower Decks begins... The CBS All Access animated comedy series takes a look at the support crew serving on one of Starfleet’s least important ships.  The first season is set for a 10-episode run that will premiere in 2020.

Executive producers Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin and show creator and executive producer Mike McMahan take the stage and introduce the voice cast of the series which included Tawny Newsome and Jack Quaid, who joined them on the stage.

Newsome will play Mariner, a no-nonsense ensign who gets the job done. She’s good at what she does, but doesn’t care.  Quaid will be playing Boimler, the by-the-book ensign who constantly gets in his own way. The two are polar opposites, so the pair clashes more often than not.  Noel Wells will play ensign Tendi a huge Starfleet fan who is excited to be on a ship while Eugene Cordero will play ensign Rutherford, an engineer who is amazing at engineering stuff, but doesn’t usually solve the problem by the end of the episode.

The cast also includes Fred Tatasciore as Lt. Shaxs, Dawnn Lewis as Captain Freeman, Gillian Vigman as Dr. T’ana.

McMahan revealed a preview of the ship which is of a new California class and will be called the Cerritos.

Couldn't be more excited. Really really hope that they don't screw this up for us.

They will.  The man who co-wrote The Island, the first two (still bad) Transformers movies, the movie that sank Sony's second Spider-Man franchise, and wrote and directed the movie that sank Universal's Dark Universe at its launch is in charge of all of Star Trek for CBS, and the showrunner on Picard co-wrote John Carter.

Yeah that is a lot of crap. But I have to wait to see.

I hope to also see more characters. Love Marina Sirtis and so many others from TNG that could come back. TNG and all the other shows. Worrf would also be a great addition. I could name them all, but I would be here for a long time.

The Picard trailer looks so good. I have not been this excited about Star Trek in a long time. This seems like the Star Trek series we should have gotten from day one. The only thing missing is a new updated Enterprise which hopefully is something they are able to incorporate into the show.
