The 1:12 (6" Scale) Army Alphas Action Figure Campaign From Cryptid Toys is Live on Kickstarter

Recommended Posts

They aren't GIJoe's but they might be the next best thing for you 6" collectors. Cryptid Toys has launched a new Kickstarter campaign for a new 6" military themed line called Army Alphas. Here are the official details:

The time has finally come for 1:12 (6 inch) SWAT, Soldier, and Army Builder figures! Cryptid Toys has launched the Army Alphas campaign that is on Kickstarter now! Each super articulated action figure has all the standard points of articulation that collectors have come to expect in addition being very modular. Helmet tops, heads, necks, arms, hands, torsos at the waist, and vests/harnesses are all swappable. These figures are in scale with Marvel Legends, DC Multiverse, Medicom Mafex, and many other collector lines. Grab some Army Alphas to boost your existing collection of army builders or even start a new one!

There are four basic figures and one deluxe figure being offered in the initial group. The basics are the Blue SWAT, Night Ops SWAT, Serpent Trooper, and Space Trooper. The deluxe is the UCP Soldier. There are several stretch goals for different figures that will become unlocked should the funding goal reach those levels. The first stretch goal is the deluxe Stealth Ninja, and the second is the basic Cobalt Trooper.

The campaign is already one third of the way to the goal and will run until Friday, March 15. Basic figures are $25 each, deluxe figures are $33 each, and shipping to each region is a flat rate no matter how many figures you pre-order.

In concept, this is a great idea. I love the figures. Having said that, if they are trying to get us to buy multiples of figures to build an army, 25$ a piece is a pretty steep price. Realistically, to get a "squad" feel I would think you'd need atleast three to five, adding up to 75 to 125 dollars. These look dope. I'd love to add a few, I just wish they almost tuned down the amazing articulation a touch for a cheaper price.

DC multiverse Rick Flagg is an excellent army builder. I've found an abundance of them at 5 below for 5$ a piece. With basic customization skills you can either paint masks, sculpt masks or simply swap heads. Very easy. I think I have eight or nine of them at this point.

Given that every 3 3/4" Kickstarter has their figures at the same price range, these figures are actually at an excellent price.

Normally, I don't go for these kickstarter things, but this looks like it might be worth it. I'm not quite ready yet, but i'll keep an eye on it.

Realistically I think 25$ is great price for not  mega mass produced action figure, I doubt it's possible to go lower than 25, when we get charged by toy companies the same price for super mass produced figures, not to mention Japanese imports.

I think the $25 is to be expected. It doesn't look like JOE is coming from Hasbro anytime soon so we're running out of options for a relatively inexpensive soldier army builder. I think these look cool.

I have to say the figures do look decent but I do have 2 main comments...

  1. $25.00 for a 3 3/4" figure... That is something I have to think about?
  2. Maybe I missed it but I don't see it listed on how you get certain figures?  It shows the pledge amounts and says 1 figure or 2 figures.  But nothing is listed in you only want certain figures.

Neat! To be clear, they wont ship to you until they reach their target amount? If i contribute now, will we be refunded if their goal is not met?

These do look fantastic!

Yes the way Kickstarter works is if it doesnt meat the goal you dont have to pay.

I saw that they reached a tier goal for a set of guns but I dont see a spot to pledge to get them. Is this just a bonus if you pledge for a "Basic" fig or does anyone know if you can just buy those? I m not too keen on the figures themselves but that weapons pack is super neat and would be very nice to have in my Legends collection.  EDIT: I originally thought they reached the goal as it was advertised in a FB group I follow but retracking the KS page, I see that it hasnt reached that goal yet. Hopefully it gets there and I can nab a set solo.

Thanks for the support guys.  The campaign is now over 100% funded so we can start unlocking some stretch goals! The accessory pack gets unlocked at $65,000

Jay is correct. You only get charged at the end of the campaign as long as the funding goal is exceeded. These go into production after the campaign is over and have an estimated spring 2020 delivery.

The accessory pack is priced ($25) and treated the same as a Basic figure. You can buy just those if you want.  As long as your pledge is for enough to cover the items you want plus shipping, you should be fine.  After the campaign, all backers will receive a survey where they specify which items they'd like to receive based on the amount pledged during the campaign.
