Disney announced today that Rogue One's Cassian Andor will be getting his own live-action TV series for Disney+, the Company’s new direct-to-consumer streaming service which is slated to debut in 2019. Diego Luna who played the role of Cassian in the Rogue One movie will be back to reprise the role for television. The series will be about formative years of the Rebellion and obviously take place before the events of Rogue One. The series will go into production next year.

Well, it sounds somewhat interesting... It kind of reminds me of that game project that never went anywhere, ‘Star Wars: 1313’. Only, I cam only hope that the seedy underworld of rebel spies and the scum and villainy that lurks within the shadows, manages to capture the attention, and imaginations, of potential viewers, the way Fett might’ve done.

I loved Rogue One but thought Cassian was the weakest character in the movie in large part because the actor was so stale. I hope he shows more life in this series than he did in the movie.

The Andor series will be joining the likes of the successful Mondarlorian series which will see season 2 kick off in October. Also coming to Disney+ will be the final season of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, which kicks off later this month on February 21, and the Ewan McGregor Obi-Wan Kenobi series, which had it's production pushed back until early next year as they rework some of the scripts.

While Lucasfilm announced K-2SO to be part of the upcoming Andor series, Alan Tudyk, the actor who helped bring him to life in Rogue One reveals he is not currently involved with the series. "They're shooting it right now, I'm not in it. But, if it stays on the air, stories keep getting told, I'll end up in there.". Depending on how far they are into filming, is K-SO being introduced later in the season, or are there plans for a second season? Due to the challenges of preforming his character using stilts, Tudyk hopes to be included soon. "...I turn 50 in March. So I hope they get to it soon, because I'm not going to be on stilts in, like, five years. I'm not doing it!"

In an interview with a Swedish publication, actor Stellan Skarsgård discussed his upcoming projects for the next few months.

“We start with Dune: Part 2 in July. And then in the Autumn, it’s time for the second season of the Star Wars series Andor… I do not know when they will start broadcasting it. It will take some time, so that it does not take too long between Season One and Season Two.
