Ah ok, do you know if the physical Arcade edition comes with the extra costumes that comes with the season passes or not? and so all the costumes can only be bought with real money? that part confused me.

And yeah if your able to get them at msrp that would be the way to go. Lately I've learned to try to justify that paying for convenience should also be factored in but theres still I fine line between that and getting ripped off.

It should, the physical edition is the same as the downloaded version and was just for people that want physical versions. It was just a way for capcom to rebrand and resell it. Arcade Edition in general was really just a glorified update to try to rebrand SFV overall. All the costumes in general can be bought with real money however only some, namely the ones you 'earn' by playing each characters little story can be bought with FM. And then the added Extra Battle mode where every month you can put down some FM and fight a character donning a costume exclusive to Extra Battle. You have to do it 4x a month tho.. you have to get 4 pieces which refresh every Friday. The game and how its set up fight money and dlc is super confusing at first and is so insanely convoluted that it seems almost like they did it on purpose so people are just like Eff this, TAKE MY GODDAMN MONEY! Also almost... ALMOST all stages can be bought with Fight Money but ALL can be bought with real money. The ones you can only buy are based off their capcom pro tour bundles.  Like i said stupidly convoluted and confusing to the general public and most of the human race.

I saw a picture off of Storms FB from SDCC that showed their prices for their exclusives and then compared them to BBTS and they really charge a fudge ton extra for them. I get it, they are exclusives but they are friggin actual characters.. not variants.. just sucks. So hopefully they have some extras in stock at the con.. if not well I ll be ok with getting the 3 ninjas if they have those in stock at least.

The thing is that the clean versions are either unavailable or much more expensive.

They are only more expensive because of the re-sellers. From what I saw Storm charging for them at SDCC, they are regularly priced. If we are talking about the con exclusives in general. The regularly released clean versions were just sold out in general. I think people started realizing these exist and started to snatch them up. I waited on Scorpion thinking they would have plenty of stock and with time the price would go down.. and we know how that went.

Tell me about it. I can't star this collection without the main Ninjas. I like them both, but I am much more of a Sub-Zero fan.  The only thing I can do right now is expect them not to be like Mezco and go only for single runs.

Unfortunately they are technically imports which means they probably wont get another run. I have not heard of imports getting multiple runs ever. I could be wrong and I hope I am. I still need me a Scorpion gaddangit!

I've seen some imports do reissues. Bandai and Figma and Megahouse do them I know. But they usually only do it for the most popular releases.

^ Yea, I know I’ve seen a few, albeit very rare, reissues (occasionally under the guise of ‘updates’, sometimes with newer or alternate accessories, sometimes strictly bare bones) for some imports... But, I don’t think those have ever been for product like this.

As I said in an earlier post though, I really don’t like the ‘bloody’ looks to them. I’d much prefer clean versions of Scorpion and Sub-Zero. If I landed myself those, I could be happy and shut the hell up.

The bloody versions make sense and they are just blood washes altho I've seen some pics next to each other and those patterns don't seem so random. I like the idea of them but the point for me is to have them in pristine original coat of paint. If they make a Johnny Cage or a Sonya, I would definitely want them bloody ... because they are stupid. But my ninjas don't need to be disgraced with weird red splotches on them... or battle damaged for that matter.

All this is very reminiscent of the SOTA Street Fighter figs that came out like 10 years ago. They did like 5 different color variants for each character they released as well as unique exclusive variants like glow in the dark blanka and mecha zangief.. Basically the vanilla(original) colors were harder to come by. I was able to get them all but that's because I would preorder the whole waves. Most peoples collections look awkward and kind of off when they have like a blue chun li but then a black gi ryu and a blue blanka with a white gi ken. Most people remember those characters in their Player one OG colors.. not their variants. This is kind of the same with this, you ll have like perfect Sub Zero and Ermac but then see bloody Scorpion and Noob and it looks weird if they are doing anything else BUT fighting... then it looks like one is getting their butt kicked more than the other.

^ That’s an interesting methodology to view the mixed and matched styled figures with.

I know that I’ve seen collections like that, myself. And, if I could actually afford any such figures, I’d probably have a similar looking collection, lol.

I guess I don’t quite understand the necessity of making bloody varients. Well, not so much that I don’t understand it, I realize that it’s all about exclusivity. Making sure the folks that got their paws on the unbloodied originals still feel prideful that they got their hands on something unique and in limited quantity.

But, if it means that the rest of us are not able to get the versions we most desire, that bugs me to no end. It’s the one major complaint I have in being a collector, which is a stemming off of the worst complaint, scalping in the aftermarket.

Yes. It generally happens when either the pre-order is sold out or if they sell out in a given period. They have doing that for several figures by Good Smile. Bandai does re-runs  occasionally and for updates as seen for several Iron Man figures. Medicom is reissuing several figures and calling versions 2.0 and 3.0 sometimes.  This is the casa for the Dark Knight Batman  that had serious issues.

All we can do is maybe sending them emails and requests.  Different from Mezco, is not stated anywhere that they are single runs.

Ironically Ive known more people that missed out on the initial 2 to 3 figs than I do ones that were able to snatch them up. They were really a late bloomer to most collectors. I hate that I waited on Scorpion but there was no way I was going to do that for my main Subzero and boy am I glad I didnt wait. Hopefully they realize alot of their audience is new to their products and missed out on those initial runs. I dont know alot of people clamoring as much for their SFV figures as they are for MK ones. Most likely due to the fact that there are alot of street fighter figures out there so they have alot more options whereas there are very very little MK figures that have been on the market and most were not 6in scale.

My guess is that we have never had MK figures that were this good. so people now going after them like crazy. When I first saw this company I went nuts and knew from day one that they would be a hit.  They had lots of problems with distribution and serious QC issues in their first figures.

I deeply regret not taking the very little opportunity that I had last years to get them, because I was focused in something else and I just thought they they wouldn't sell out as fast.  When they finally started to get here like a few months ago, the price was higher, the quantities were very low and get matters worse, I was broke.

I hope this proves to be the case... It seems, going back to SDCC, that there were a few companies readily acknowledging that fact. And, in the case of Hasbro and, to some degree, NECA, they’re actually trying to do something for consumers. IE, releasing Gamestop exclusive Movie Turtles figures, and the Black Series’ Archive line. But, I don’t follow Storm closely enough to know if that’s something they’d be likely to do.

Comparing Storm to Hasbro is very unfair. Hasbro is a huge company. Neca still is bigger too, because they embrace a lot of lines, scales and they get a lot of product out.

To me Mezco is the closest comparison  because they only make like 3 lines and the ONE:12 is what I would specifically compare to Storm. High-end collectibles that have limited release.  Now that Storm is branching out to other licenses, but if you stop to think about  it is the same product 1:12 scale action figures from video games. Same articulation scheme, but different accessories dependeing on the character.

Neca frequently does by request re issues while Mezco says that never will.  I can only hope that Storm is more like Neca in that regard.

Yea, that’s really all I mean to say... As I mentioned, I’m not really familiar with Storm, so I can only hope that’s a business model they will eventually adopt.

Well the problem is they only distribute to e-tailers and conventions. They dont put their products in places people could easily grab them. I mean no one is going to buy a $50 figure at a toy store for their kid. They are very much a specialty style of figures. I mean its based off an over 20 year old property by their designs, its an adult collectors figure so its going to have adult prices and find them at adult-ish online stores heh. I agree with FASVB its unfair to compare them to big major companies like Hasbro. NECA is kind of still an independent company, one that grabs alot of major licenses because they have shown they can do them just like Storm seems to be starting to do even tho they havent had alot of products come out yet. Im hoping that sometime in the future, when they start bringing out more than just 2-3 license products at a time, that they will start distributing their stuff farther in more stores that arent just online. They are getting steam and getting alot of attention so hopefully they grow and expand like that. I hope they dont start upping their prices tho, their default prices are enough for me. Im starting to sell off some of my collections just to buy their stuff. :D

I feel you on this.. I placed my bets on them not selling out and possibly even go on sale. I also didnt have the money to buy all of them, only subzero at the time.

Maybe what all of these high end companies really need to do, is open an ‘adult toy store’... So, erm, adult collectors can go in and. Yea, nevermind.

I could have sworn that Storm re-released their Scorpion and Sub-Zero because I also remember being broke when they went up for pre-order and being sold out everywhere and looking on ebay and seeing them up for around $100 just for pre-owned ones then right when I was about to give up I saw them back up on BBTS and TCP and was able to grab them each for $55.

They already have those, they are found on the side of some highways where truckers like to go.

They didnt introduce the blood variants until later which is kind of what I think you may be thinking of. I dont remember them ever restocking the figs once they were sold out except those which came out just before hand or right after.

Well the ones I have are the clean versions. I don't know if they had a trial first wave and then the official first wave or something. All I really remember was it was around the time preorders for Reptile came up. Maybe some online stores just had a restock of them and it wasn't actually a re-release.

I believe the latter of what you said is indeed correct. I vaguely remember BBTS had something where it was out of stock but in some form stating its in back order.

BBTS got restock like 3 times, but they sold out very fast. It was the time that they where still shipping, but even then you could not see them at the Storm online store.

We could all start a petition. But not now, because I am still broke.
