Since no one else has brought this up, I just can't express how excited I am that Black Manta is getting the ArtFX+ treatment since I've always wanted a small yet modern quality statue of him. His design always intrigued me the moment I saw him in Alex Ross's JUSTICE, and ever since that comic as well as his depiction in Brightest Day, I fell in love with the character (as evidenced by my display pic/avatar). I'm already making my own custom 6" figure based on his modern appearance and I even plan on drawing some art to spread the love for this under-appreciated character (heck maybe even a fancomic re-interpreting his various origins into one?). While he's really obscure and never had a definitive story that aged well, I'm just happy that with the upcoming Aquaman film that we might just get even more merchandise and stories for good ol' Manta.

He was great in Brightest Day, the part where he finds out Aquaman is alive and he proceeds to butcher everyone in the Fish Market was freaky and then he casually walks to the Ocean and transforms into Black Manta. The part where he's about to murder the new Aqualad's father by throwing a harpoon at him and Aquaman shows up and catches the harpoon I let out a loud: "Aha!" reading that part. I always liked his design, it's one of those classic examples of comic book design where simple and less is more.

Brightest Day was such a great re-introduction for his character and I'm glad that he's practically become a regular on Aquaman's ongoing from New 52 up to Rebirth. I wholeheartedly agree with regards to his design, it's truly one of those great examples of how the simple silhouette lends to such a memorable design.

You just reminded me I got to finish the New 52 run of Aquaman, I stopped shortly after the first arc ended.

Funnily enough I haven't finished it myself but I'm planning to backtrack it since I've been more carefully following his Rebirth ongoing. I basically stopped right after the second arc just as the third one was coming in. Didn't help that Manta was only primarily featured in the second one which made me a bit lazy to check out the rest, haha!
