Now that Super7 will be taking over MOTU

I think that's awesome news!

Very cool idea to do "ultimate" versions of the characters and include all of the different heads and accessories. I'll be getting that Teela for sure.

Now, I wonder if the quality is gonna be up to par with the Mattel stuff? If so, I might just sell my Mattel stuff now before the value drops and grab the Super 7 versions of Ram Man and Teela.

Well I'm afraid I have to count myself as one of the 'somewhat disappointed' crowd - I have no problem with the 'ultimate' concept but I would have liked to see more than that, otherwise it seems like Classics just becomes a 'best of' series rather than pushing forward with anything new. Don't get me wrong, I love that they're doing this for those that haven't been on board until now or missed out on previous versions (like perennial favourites reamining in print for books, albums and movies - why not the same for great toys?) but I'd like to see something that's going to push the line forward rather than just retread the same ground. They seem to be doing some of this with the smaller scale line but I'd rather see 'battle damaged Skeletor' or 'Terror Wolf' as Classics size characters than just the 3 3/4 inch versions. Maybe that will come as their plans become more clear and are better communicated, but until that does happen, I don't see myself needing to spend any further on MOTUC. Good on those that can now jump onboard though!

In Pixel Dan's video about the NYCC stuff, he said Super 7 announced they are launching the line with 8 Classics figures and 8 Filmation figures, and the Horsemen have said they submitted new prototypes to Super 7, so there's still a chance we'll see new stuff as well.

Since they will have access to all of the Mattel molds, I'm hoping they will try to get their money out of the line by re-releasing figures that I missed and are expensive to get ahold of on the secondary market like Whiplash and Roboto.

I also hope they continue the filmation line. Still a lot of great toys to be made there.

This is great news!

It will be crap news if it is a sub. I want them to go to regular retail(TRU) or online like BBTS for regular prices.

I still need a Teela & Skeletor. I am more likely to get more if I can pick and choose the ones I want.

I hope it's just straight pre-orders, they said in the SDCC video, something about not making the same amount as Mattel (or I read/heard that somewhere)... if that's the case, and how fast things sell out on Matty, I'd hate to see how fast they sell out here.

If they do pre-orders, then they can get a better idea(as long as they don't have a limit on ore-orders, that'd really suck if pre-orders sold out, lol).

At first at sdcc, Super 7 said they where not interested in Thundercats because of all the technicalities. This was before Mattels Thundercats starte to ship. Many, including my self started to threaten to cancel their Thundercats subs. THEN they did a 180 and said they were all about the Thundercats. I don't believe them. I think they just said it to save Mattels a**. I think after all the Mattel TC figures ship, they are going to turn around and say they can't do it. Incidentally, I ended up with Lion - O. I thought the account I gave Mattel didn't have any money in it. Turns out, I used a card when I subbed that did have money. Now, I yet again have a Lion - O from a TC line that will probably not be completed. It was a complete waste of 50 dollars, any takers?

I need a NEW heman, my og one has weak ankles. Funny how a lot of people are mad already, cant make adult collectors happy lol, doesn't matter what company makes them. I see this as online only or maybe a specialty store like just TRU. I really dont think there is enough interest , especially with stores tending to get things late and over ordering and box rations not changing. I mean a lot times TRU gets stuff a month or 2 after Amazon or ebay stores.

Not sure how I feel about the ultimate figures, but I'm glad that fans will get a chance at some figures they possibly missed. What excites me is the fact that they are trying to see if Snake Mountain is even a possibility at all.

Hmmm...I think your facts are a little off...

If you watch this interview from SDCC, at about 2 minutes in, he says they have full intentions of taking over Thundercats but don't have the rights to the license at this time.

Hey Hey....the recent news that Super 7 is re-releasing "newer" versions of past figures is reassuring to say the least.....I can't wait to see if they go w/Pre-orders or not...I'm down for Teela & Ram Man 1st thing...then we can work from there...Its funny how many other forums are buzzing about this....some seem content while others are "nerd-raging" already that they're wasting spots for characters who had 30 seconds of screen time....I'm also surprised at how many people who are down for buying more versions of figs they already have....I'm keeping my fingers crossed well get a few more of the Evilbay Stars such as Shadow Weaver, Sorceress, ect......I would really hope they would print some more Horde Troopers as well.....can't wait to see what they have in store....

As strange as this may sound, not everyone has a Ram Man nor a Teela. I myself, do not have the regular Teela, and getting this would be great especially how the regular one cost an arm or a leg on ebay. I hope they do a Triklops as I have that figure stolen from me at my doorstep.

I am actually excited for the Ultimate line as it is mainly created to reboot the line and for those who missed on the more desirable figures considering how all these figures are around $80 - $150 range. Besides, not every figure appears to be a straight reissue with Ram Man having red pants instead of green.

As for anyone who is worried that these figures will devalue their own? Did the countless reissues in the past devalue your He-man or Teela? While these may make these figures cheaper, it would be brief.

Now that I think about it, the problem with the MOTUC line is that it is really based on toys from the various toylines and the pieces of art before it rather than the actual characters. To clarify, after they do the 200x He-man and Skeletor, who can they do next other than the DC He-man outfits? Can they go back and do a MOTUC 2.0 He-man that looks better than the first one without changing the aesthetics of the toyline? Because of that, if they want to do more regular He-man toys, they would have to continue to do repaints of him, which means weird variants with silver parts instead of greyish parts for instance.

I certainly understand collector's frustrations about them rereleasing figures especially after all the complaints I heard from collectors regarding Mattel. Me, I loved He-Man when I was a kid but that was a long time ago and I'm not a hard core fan I can barely recognize characters out of the main ones. If they make these more accessible like non subscription and maybe TRU I would maybe pick up a couple, hope they release She-Ra, they did make a She-Ra in the previous line, right?

It wasnt a video, it was a statement he made in an interview. The video he did with Pixal Dan was meant to walk back his initial statement.

She-Ra was one of the easiest ones to get.

Coming from this post?

" 'On MOTU Classics: I talked to Brian from Super7 last night at Skeletor's Lair. They plan to continue the Classics line. They will still use the Horsemen, and he mentioned that there were a few Filmation characters that the Horsemen had ready for a possible 2017 line, so they will start there. He mentioned they plan to create new characters too.

Mattel is out, though. They basically licensed the MOTU property to Super7. So with the end of MattyCollector comes the end of Mattel's Classics line.

I have an interview scheduled with Brian Friday, so I'll be getting as many details as I can on video at that time.

Oh, and ThunderCats sounds like it's finished. I guess the license is a little too Co plated for Super7 to take on. So it seems we are only getting the 2016 figures that were already announced, and nothing more.

Stay tuned!'

If so, I guess it's how you read into things (and probably your attitude towards the way you see things to begin with), I see it as him stating it's complicated and they most likely won't be able to get the license and then later in the video, he's able to elaborate more on why... but think what you will, doubt I'll be able to change that anyway. The whole half empty/half full glass kinda thing, me, I just hope it's half full.

I'm still excited I'll be able to get a Teela finally!

Oh OK, I didn't follow the line so I assumed she was slightly to get, oh well...

I know it must suck for those who already got them, but I'm okay with the Ultimate figures since 1) I never got any of the core characters like He-Man, Skeletor and Teela 2) This is my chance to do the exact mix and match I was planning to do in the first place, especially with how I wanted the Alcala Skeletor head with the Keldor cape.

So yeah, I'm personally happy with these since I always held out of grabbing the core characters due to being indecisive with which version to get, and now I can get them and the parts I wanted in one fell swoop (mostly anyways). Here's hoping these aren't going to be hard to get pre-orders for though.
