Okay, I'm on board...

I finally saw some Titans Return figures at retail today...I couldn't afford them (lol), but man, did they ever look awesome in person. I've seen some mixed reviews online, and have myself been a little underwhelmed by the pics I've seen. I was also prepared to be disappointed with their size, as they're so much smaller than the vintage versions. But in person they look amazing...they look a lot more solid and detailed than I was expecting. I am now officially excited about these things and can't wait to get my hands on some of them...

The main one I wanted was Hardhead. He looks so great in person. I was fortunate enough to have the original one years ago, so it brought back so many memories seeing him today. Blurr looked incredible, but I didn't care for the all-blue look of the Hasbro version. The Takara one is the one I want when it comes out. And I actually had the opposite reaction to Scourge...I've been thinking that if I did get on-board for these figures, I'd prefer the Takara one since his head looked a little more accurate to the animation colors, but I found that I liked the Hasbro one too quite a bit, that I wouldn't pass it up if I ever found it again.

Well, I went to a TRU outlet on an wild-hair out-of-town trip this evening and found the TR Transformers again, and this time I was prepared. I snagged Hardhead, and I just can't take my eyes off of him. When I found out these were gonna be Deluxe-scale figures with hollow parts and tiny "Headmasters", I was disappointed and thought Hasbro was gonna save me some money this year. I was grossly mistaken. (lol) I really look forward to the rest of this line now. I always had a fondness for the original Headmasters, and I think these new figures are gonna scratch that nostalgic itch quite nicely.

One more thing...I was reading the bio of Hardhead's "Titanmaster", and apparently he provides him with the power to automatically repair damage inflicted on the battlefield, giving him regenerative healing powers, as it were. Did the original Headmasters endow their host Transformers with special abilities like that? I don't recall, to be perfectly honest.

Thanks Joe...I was always fascinated with the human/Transformer-interface theme of the original toys, to think that their minds and abilities could merge into one entity, allowing humans to become Transformers and vice-versa to a great extent. And I think in terms of playability there was also a M.A.S.K.-like quality to the whole gimmick of Headmasters that always appealed to me...I loved that there were actually pilot and driver figures in the original line. This all makes me want to get my hands on the new Fort Max now more than ever...

BTW, I had been tempted to watch the Japanese cartoon continuation of the Headmasters storyline, but I wasn't sure I could stand watching it in subtitles.

kinda of off the subject....when I was a lad I was able to get for my B-day one year.....Scoropornok & the Decepticon HM that turned into a jet & an Robot Monkey....those were the only "headmaster's" I had.....I actually asked my family for some "Headmaster's toys" (innocent from the mouth of a child but kinda wrong if your an adult demanding headmaster's haha) & my brother never stopped giving me rash-shiii for that...great birthday memories but when I got older I found the innuendo kinda funny myself....what were those toy team designers thinking?......I thought it was cool that Scorpo had an little cockpit (jeez hasbro your killing me) that his HM could ride into battle......that was one of the best toys I ever owned....great articulation on his claws...I used to send Scorpo over to destroy my Joes & he would always end up crushing some poor Joes to plastic death in his giant purple claws....of course Snake Eyes was too quick for that shiii.....I should have never sold my Scorps off....#sadrobot #transfeels #robodepression......

I bought a few: Galvatron, Optimus Prime, Blaster, Scourge and 4 of those really little guys. I also have Fort Max on Layaway along with 7 others. I am considering selling the ones I have and canceling the layaway to focus on MP and 3rd party stuff. I might also sell the Combiner Wars Autobot cars I have, they are unopened, so they might sell. Still debating, once I have a TF, its hard to let go. lol
