Star Wars Action Figure Has Parents Furious

I had to share this from FB

Parents are not happy with this Princess Leia action figure. They say the skimpy "slave outfit" and neck shackles are inappropriate, and should not be sold in the children's toy aisle.

I do not have a young daughter to ask me. "Daddy, why does she have a chain around her neck?" but I imagine I would say something like, "Because that's what she looked like in the movie."

Another story blown out of proportion for our hyper-sensitive society. Did the other half dozen slave Leias over the last 20 years slide under the radar because they were 3 3/4"? Oh wait, there have also been a few 12" versions....6" is the scale that somehow gets the media attention?

These articles kinda lose credibility when you consider how many Slave Leia figures have been made over the years, you know, since that movie came out . . . 32 years ago. And they just now notice this menace to society?

Wake up, stop trying to get famous eating off Lucas's plate, leave the toy store and attack some of the REAL social ills threatening society.

That's simple... 3 3/4" is too small and 12" is too big... I am told 6" is average, so more of those are seen, thus, noticed.

Totally inappropriate penis joke. lol

Let the parents complain about THAT!

It just proves that today's parents are idiots. I bet this guy complaining had no problem with it when he was younger and saw Leia in said outfit.

I'm sure he didn't.

Once again, the media found one guy (one guy) who has his panties in a bunch over something that could be made into a social issue if it's spun the right way. Now it's "news".

I would, however, put this one step below the guy who faked being outraged over Princess Leia being the only main female character in the OT and his "do it for the attention" quest to find a Leia action figure at retail.

Of course he could be one of those folks that has never seen any of the Star Wars movies and knows nothing about the subject. I've met a few people like that over the years.

I guess this guy doesn't do much toy shopping either because the figure he is complaining about has been out at retail for a long time and is a serious peg warmer to boot. Its all over the place.

I've just about given up on finding new Black series product at retail because the pegs are all full of unsold "slave Leia" and Obi-Wan figures.

He just noticed now?

I just can't chalk it up to some guy who has never seen any of the movies. There has been enough references to the outfit in other forms of media. Top of that list is the episode of Friends the outfit showed up in. Plus as I mentioned, there is now the cover of GQ with Amy Schumer wearing a Slave Leia outfit.

He calls himself a good father & his kids don't know what Star Wars is?......Jabba the Hut & Greedo are rolling over in their graves....how many countless lives lost at Alderon? How many souls lost in the Rebellion?.....that's the real crime here....Star Wars needs to be part of Father-school curriculum.....Dads teach your sons & daughters, resist the power of the whiny side of the farce.....

I do have a problem with this costume variation of Leia as far as female cosplayers and the increasing sensitivity to perceived sexual harassment at comic conventions. Touching and personal space is one thing, but you cant choose to embody a strong female character who is forced to wear something like that against her will and be that thin-skinned against cat-calls and unwanted leering.
