The first stand alone Star Wars: Rogue One

Recommended Posts

It would be cool if they show Boba coming back from the Sarlacc Pit

that would be pretty cool.

This could either be really cool or really lame. I do think it's somewhat funny that they are doing a Rogue Squadron movie when 99% of the Squads stuff is EU and Disney has basically thrown all EU stuff out the door. Also didn't they say at one point this movie would be tied into Eps 7?

As much as I don't care for them using the Rogue One name for this, after reading some of the stuff from over the weekend and seeing that teaser I'm willing to give it a try.

It's shaping up to look pretty good and I will probably go se it opening weekend. Still think people will be confused a little by this as it won't have (for what we have seen) any of the characters from any other SW (I don't count Vader). Hopefully they explain it out at the beginning.

I haven't seen the new trailer, I keep hearing it's great but I think at this point, I'm just gonna hold off on seeing trailers and just go watch the movie when it comes out.

I try not to get my hopes up to much, but after seeing the first 3 trailers. I think this will be an opening night see for me.

I'm a Jimmy Smits fan so I was glad to hear he's in Rogue One. That will be a nice connection between this, the prequels and the OT without it being forced.

Who's going to see this this weekend?

I do believe I am going on Sunday. Looking forward to it. Besides them building the Death Star, I don't really know what to expect and that's fine with me. Also, pat on the back to me for not going overboard on the toys...yet. I have a total of four 3.75" figs. I think this time last year I already had the whole TFA line before seeing it.

SPOILERS...................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really liked the fact that we were watching a doomed cast of characters the entire time. In the other movies you hear about how brave rebels sacrificed and died for the cause and this really gives a face to them. Mission accomplished on that front. I was sad to see K-SRO, Jyn, Cassian, blind guy, etc. go. I cared that they died. And yet, I'm glad that we won't be seeing them in sequel after sequel. They made their contribution to the overall story and now they're gone.

Other likes:

Krennik was a good bad guy.

Darth Vader was awesome (though I thought his neck looked a bit wide). Him cutting through the rebels at the end was bad ass as well as seeing him in his water tank on Mustafar (I was half expecting the Emperor in that scene).

Tarkin and Leia CGI- could have easily been a disaster but man...I was staring very close as I'm sure everyone else was and darned if they didn't pull it off. Tarkin's whole roll in the film was fun.

I loved the cameo by Evazan and Walrus Man (or as the wife calls him, Balls Chin).

The whole final battle was great. Didn't see Jyn stare down a TIE fighter as shown in the trailer though.

Taking us right up to the very moment A New Hope begins was great.

Dislikes:

If any movie could have afforded Porkins time to shine, it would have been this one. Opportunity wasted!

Very satisfying movie.
