Wolverine with custom metal claws

Tried my hand at giving my Wolverine some real metal claws to replace the limp, bendy ones he came with. Got the recipe from a toy custom site using filed down hair pins. Really happy with how they turned out. His claws no longer look like a joke.

Next up I did Cyclops, repainting the yellow on his boots, gloves, and undies. Originally they were a really dull yellow and a not-so-good black paint wash. They just looked dirty, IMO.

 

I wanted his yellows to pop. I decided to keep the dark blue with the black paint wash because I think they did an OK job with that and now you have more contrast with the dark and light colors. I also noticed that my Wolverine, Jean Grey, Phoenix, and Rogue all had a goldish/yellow to their costumes and I think uniformity is cool! I painted up Cyke with a brighter yellow and then did a light orange wash which you cant see super well in the pics but I'm very happy with it.

 

 

 

 

Next up: Working on a tweak to the Mighty Thor!

This is my first time customizing using dry brush and paint wash techniques. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. I was going for a worn, leathery look on the uniform.

 

I painted over all the factory pin stripping in black, then sprayed a dull coat on the whole figure. Did some dry brush in dark grey and did a gloss black around the "X" on his vest to try to make it pop out more (might not show up as well in pictures). On the arms and face I did a black paint wash then dry brushed silver.

 

I picked this figure not because I love X3 but because if I messed up, I only lost an X3 Colossus.
