For those that hated the IM3 twist

I watched the "Further Adventures of Trevor" short film on the Thor DVD.

This film was done for no other reason than to appease the fans. It was literally a box of tissue from Marvel Studios telling them, "There, there, it will be OK". I thought the film itself was fine. I just liked Kingsley in the roll and was hoping he WAS Mandarin just playing dumb.

The thing is, I'm not convinced Marvel had grand plans for Mandarin one way or the other in the movie universe. If they DID then they likely wouldn't have gone with the twist in IM3. Also, if they had plans for Mandarin going forward, they'd likely tell this story in a way that a larger audience would see it. These would count as some major plot developments, and they're going to be told in a short film on a special features disk that some people may or may not own? No...my guess is this is Marvel making the grumpy fans feel all better in the notion that the "real" Mandarin is out there somewhere---regardless of whether or not he's actually used in future films. Nothing more. And I guess there's nothing wrong with that.
