I have always considered myself a Marvel fan, but after watching the first episode of this show, I was bored out of my mind. It's the only episode I watched, and only if I start reading that it's really turning around will I ever go back to it.

It just seemed so bland, unimaginative, and the characters were dull.

Compared to other current, popular television shows like Walking Dead, Breaking Bad and Game Of Thrones, this show is a dud in my opinion. It could have been so much better...

I've not been able to catch this show due to a boot camp I joined, but not liking what I'm hearing!!!

The one thing I didn't want is them making up characters out of thin air!! They have a plethora of established low tier Marvel Universe characters from which to choose from!!! Use them and continue expanding this universe we love so much!!

And kill off those Jr. Agents, they annoyed me in the first episode!!!

Those shows are written with limited restrictions... I think its tougher to balance a show for kids and adults...

I have been trying to hold on and keep watching this show but week after week it's keep getting uninteresting, now I may just be impatient and the show will probably get better but as if it is right now, it's not going anywhere for me. I feel no need to create new characters when you have a vast selection to choose from that very universe you are adapting. With this show they have the perfect opportunity to bridge the movie universe and expand on it. In Iron Man 3 we were introduced to AIM why not continue with that same with Hydra introduce Baron Strucker , Scorpio, etc. In the Avengers it was revealed that SHIELD kept Hydra equipment after WW2 another thing they could use. A plot that seems like a no brainer which hopefully will get addressed soon is aliens they played a big part in the Avengers it would make sense for the Council to create SWORD perfect bridge to Guardians of the Galaxy next year and SWORD was created by Whedon back in Astonishing X-men so I see no problems there. Unfortunately I feel the show is becoming what I fear it would be which is a vehicle for the Whedons to try their hand at TV again. I may be a little harsh or I may be expecting too much of this show but that's how I feel at this point that Originals show that my wife is watching seems more interesting.

Yeah, my wife and I are ready to give up on this show. I told her we should give the show until the halfway mark. It took a while for Angel to find its rhythm, but watching this show just made us re-watch Angel.

lol One of my wife's all time favorite series is Buffy the Vampire Slayer, she loves Angel and Dollhouse, so she's sort of a fan of Whedon's work and even she told me after the last SHIELD episode that the series is boring and she's not impressed.

Watch the show yourself before making any drastic decisions. Most of the moaning your hearing is from people who just don't get that this isn't a superhero show.

What it IS is a show in the finest tradition of Mission Impossible (the show not that movie crap), Man from Uncle, or I Spy. In other words, all the things that originally inspired the S.H.I.E.L.D. comics in the first place.

Agreed. This show will not appeal to the CGI, explosions of epic proportions, eye candy addicted folks.

the moaning has nothing to do with the fact that it isn't a superhero show... and people aren't losing interest because it lacks epic "eye candy".... you are insulting people with good taste.

the show simply isn't a good show. it's boring, has bland characters, STUPID and annoying characters, is poorly written and planned, has a terrible premise and storyline etc..

and it is NOT a spy show.. Disney/Marvel promised a spy show set in the Marvel Universe spun off from the movies where they have already done a pretty good job establishing SHIELD. But the show is nothing like the SHIELD from the movies.

in fact, the show betrays SHIELD in every way... they make SHIELD seem more like an afterschool crime-fighting club... and nothing at all like the world's greatest spy agency.

They need to keep Coulsen and the older Asian Chick and kill off the rest of the team. Ward could have been an okay character, but not in a role where he is kinda the only real Agent on the team and in the starring role. He is more of a background character because he is too one dimensional.

The only reason I watch this show is because it is in the Marvel Universe. That is the only redeeming quality of the show. Without that fact, it wouldn't be able to stand on it's own... so if they were smart, they would take advantage of that and actually start to utilize the wealth of characters and stories available to them.

Reading other people's comments on the show leads me to believe this is the ONLY reason this show has an audience at all. That's not enough to sustain something long-term.

I honestly can't weigh in because I've only seen the first episode but this is one case where the talk may have turned me off to the show before I even give it a chance. Week after week I see, "kinda boring", "Could be better". I'm all for seeing something for myself before I judge but I've got so many other shows to watch and comics to read....the working man just ain't go no time! :) I want to be sure I'm not investing myself into something that's just "meh".

Last night's episode was pretty cool.

My only gripe is with the cast. I don't have an issue with their age, but a few of the main characters seem so cold and robotic... Colsen is too, but he pulls it off way better with his cynical smiles. The other guys need to lighten up and crack a smile once in a while. FitzSimmons are a bunch of goof balls and you really have to pay attention to understand them through their heavy accents, but I like them.
