Oh yeah. Cause who wants to see a movie about a bunch of heroes fighting a losing battle against a legion of genocidal androids if they don't interrupt the carnage every five seconds so the heroes can toss out bad one-liners?

Thanks to Disney XD, I don't care if no superhero ever makes a joke again.

Maybe if Sony cut a deal with WB instead...

There's one thing I'm worried about with Marvel's movie Spidey and it ain't the humor. The thing that bothers me is all these articles I'm reading that are saying there's little to no chance they cast a white guy for the roll. Now, say they have an open audition for all races (yes, including white) and they pick the honest-to-goodness best man for the job out of all of them regardless of color, I'd be more inclined to be OK with it. But with them starting out saying "no whities allowed" for this beloved A-lister who they've wanted to get back for years, that seems a tad, ummmm....what's the word I'm looking for..........?

Of course they're also kicking around the idea that this will be Miles Morales Spidey instead. In that case it's more acceptable. I like Perter better but he has had 5 movies and I guess I'd be willing to experiment with a whole new character under the mask. But of course that's not confirmed yet and regardless, I'd think after all Marvel's talk about wanting Spider-Man back in the sandbox that once they finally got him they'd go with no one else but the classic Peter Parker Spidey. But "classic" Spidey is looking less and less likely. I guess we'll have to wait and hope PC-ness doesn't rear it's ugly head.

Better get used to it, as long as Joss Whedon is directing the movie and writing the script you are gonna have the spotlight on the female character and she's gonna be doing the "witty" one liners. I feel the scene with the shield would have been better/cooler if she just nonchalantly picked up the shield in silence a la Obi Wan picking up Anakin's lightsaber in AOTC in the Coruscant chase(yes I realized I referenced the prequels as an example of something being done better, don't care). Also I don't know how the whole Black Widow/Banner/Hulk Romance is gonna play out but it feels off to me. Also meh to the shot of Black Widow doing the baton twirling, if they wanted a shot of a hot chick twirling batons and kicking butt with them they should have gotten Adrienne Palicki to do it she already did it better in Agents of SHIELD.

I'll give the Black Widow/Banner thing a chance because I'm just taking the "whatever" stance on it, but if they really wanted BW to romance someone it should have been Winter Soldier like they did in the comics. That was a pairing that made a lot of sense (of course they erased that like the do most everything else).

They really had two missed opportunities for a solid romance in Cap II (which is still a great movie regardless). The other one being setting the foundation for the Steve/Sharon Carter romance which could have easily been done had BW been left out of Cap 2 and all here scenes been given to Carter. That would have made a lot more sense. But oh well.

That's actually my only 2 very minor gripes from the Cap 2 movie, before the movie came out I thought that was the reason they had Black Widow on the movie, they could have Sharon be Captain America's SHIELD liasion like she was in the beginning of that stellar run but what can you do? At least BW's scenes and writing in that movie were the best the character has been in the movies.

But wait, Sharon Carter was much older and very frail in CA:WS...how could she have played the BW role in the film (unless she had opted for the Super Soldier serum back in the day)?

That was Peggy Carter in Winter Soldier. Sharon was, I think, Steve's neighbor.

Correct. In the comics Sharon is Peggy's niece originally she was her sister but they changed it to fit the timeline better.

MOAR BLACK WIDOW! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

https://www.yahoo.com/tv/s/final-avengers-age-ultron-focuses-164800001.html

Thanks for the article, strong and empowered woman of today!

Eh, don't read too much into these left-leaning opinion articles. They may WANT Black Widow to be the star of the show but that doesn't mean it's going to happen. The writers of these articles just extrapolate little bits and pieces of information of their choosing to write the articles they want to write.

I read another geek opinion article claiming the Flash is "Really a Good Gay TV Show". No lie, that was the headline. The reason? Because of the throw away line in one episode delivered by the rarely seen supporting character police captain about his boyfriend back home. Because of this the writer was able to craft a several paragraphs long opinion piece about how this show champions gay awareness.

These writers are no different than anyone on this message board. Writing their opinions and throwing them on the internet. Only they get paid for it. Must be tough.

"All hail our Queen and savior, Natasha Romanoff!"

Get a grip.

Ugh! Latino review again?

In any case, if they're right (that's a BIG if) I love Ernie Hudson. Although I think Keith David might make a better Panther-Daddy. He can slip back and forth between regal, street-tough, and fatherly without missing a beat.

Very cringe-worthy IMO:

https://www.yahoo.com/movies/avengers-age-of-ultron-hulk-black-widow-scene-116394576322.html

This guy thinks a lot of himself and his work.

Oh well, at least the porn parody should be interesting.

I'm missing the "thinks a lot of himself" part. So he's proud of a scene he filmed. I've done work that I'm proud of before.

Don't worry, I think this is his last one. It will be over soon.

Been done, wasn't that great.

As for Whedon, why exactly would he NOT be proud of his accomplishments. As far as I'm concerned, the man has more than earned his bragging rights. At least he's not being an A-Hole about it. That's more than you can say about some of these Hollywood types.

A-hole? maybe not. But it doesnt get any more artsy-fartsy pretentious than filming a modern version of Shakespeare in you own house with your friends and unleashing it on the public

Oh, and there's still the "Empire Strikes Back" isnt all that thing.

And going on talk shows to harp about how sexist Hollywood is in contrast to your work.

I'm almost burned out on all the stuff out there for this movie already. I want to see it, but it seems like there are just too many clips of this scene or that scene. Featurettes all over the internet with different cast members talking about all sorts of stuff. The one thing this really makes me dread is that if this is how Disney is pushing the Avengers, how they push Star Wars in December is going to be unbearable.

Rener and Evans call the Black Widow a slut, obviously joking, and, of course, are made to apologize profusely because someone became offended.

(the video is actually pretty funny)

These Sensitive Sallys are going to end up running America unless someone tells them to shut up.

Considering the actress, chalk it up to blurring the lines of reality? Sorry for the character, though.
