Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

I actually kinda like it. Changing things up a bit... tattoos instead of scaled leotards (let's be honest, that would have never worked)... and as soon as they cast him, you know we weren't getting happy, clean cut Californian beach stud Aquaman. To be honest... I like it.

They said the same thing about Captain America's stars n stripes. They could have made a more traditional look work.

In any case, I'm not saying I hate it. I'm just not surprised by it.

Captain america used the pure military look and later body armor/padded armor, big difference from scaled leorards... Could they have updated it and made it modern? Yeah... I guess they could have(I'm sure we would have gotten just as many complaints from dark orange "x-men" leather if they went that sort of route) ... but they didn't, and I'm happy they didn't and went this route. Have I outgrown comic books? I still read them here and there... I'll never outgrow them(kinda hard when to work for a comic shop part time).

How exactly are fish tattoos and armor supposed to work? Look at a dolphin or a shark's skin. What do you see? Heavy armor plating and funky body art? No, it's all about sleekness, stealth and speed. A dolphin's skin generates almost zero friction in the water. Basically, a form-fitting suit of neoprene or some similar material would make a lot more since.

Let's at least try and have a little originality. Save the tired old sword and sandal crap for Game of 300 Gladiator Thrones.

First picture of Clark from Supes vs Bats

I guess concealing a secret identity with glasses was not realistic enough so they opted to go with no glasses at all. So Clark can just kind of....hope no one recognizes that he's Superman? Maybe?

I'm watching the old "Adventures of Superman" on ME-TV and on a few episodes there were instances where Lois and Jimmy talked to Clark without his glasses on and they never said anything..Its like the suit made him superman and without it he is just Clark

Sort of, its more like their own perception of Superman as this bigger than life being and Clark as just a normal guy provided the disguise.

It's like in the comics. Post-Crisis Lex Luthor actually learned Superman's secret identity fairly early on. He just filed it away as bull-$#!+ because in his short-sightedness he couldn't believe anyone as incredible as Superman could be anyone as average as Clark Kent.

A real trailer has been released:

I'm sorry, but the Superman/God comparison stories just don't interest me. Neither does Batman threatening to make Superman bleed. Can't they just be friends?

Three more hours of dark, serious, brooding, fight, fight, fight, serious, moral ramifications of being a superhero, fight, fight, fight, brooding, serious, (no humor), fight, fight, fight, see ya next time.

I'm fine with Arrow being a darker show. Just like I'm fine with Batman being portrayed darker 95% of the time. Arrow has a balance with the Flash, which is generally a more light hearted....at least in comparison. I'm not a fan of dark and gritty Superman.

Guys, guys! You're forgetting what's important here. Light and hopeful, dark and gritty, it doesn't matter!

All that matters is that this is a live-action corner of the DC Universe where Felicity Smoak doesn't exist.

That's enough to brighten my day!

Well that trailer was ok, but it didn't get me really excited about the movie. Maybe it was trailer fatigue from all the new ones released last week or maybe it was the fact that all we really got was a lot of talk and dark screen pans. The shots of Affleck as Batman looked good and we already knew what we were getting as far as Superman was concerned. Hopefully the next one is better and gets me a little more pumped up for the movie.

On a related note:

I just read that "Batman v. Superman XXX: An Axel Braun Parody" received an advanced screening (for a PORNO!?!) at University of California, Santa Barbara.

I knew I went to the wrong school!

So Bruce Wayne has greying temples?

Yeah, it's been mentioned by Snyder a few times that this will be an older Bruce toward the end of his career. They're really going for the Miller Dark Knight Returns thing. Of course, I also think if you're going for an older Batman, another great choice would have been....Michael Keaton! Yep, I just watched the first Batman again last night!

I'm always up for more Keaton, but can you imagine the baggage that would bring? At least for the die-hards who take this stuff WAY to seriously.

"Ooo! Man of Steel takes place in the Burton Universe!"

"Ooo! Where's Chris O'Donnell?"

"Ooo! Where's Michelle Pfieffer?"
