Hasbro's Black Series 6" Figure Line

This guy would not stop as he kept probing me to tell him where the stores were that these figures were being found.

...man, it's like the principal hounding you to rat out your friends!

I have a feeling a lot of Walgreens are guilty of this "violation" because these new figures are all over ebay now. I think I'll take that number and head to a Walgreens today to try my luck. Vader is calling to me!

Don't bother! I actually took a trip out of ton and visited 7 different Walgreens during my travels and was able to find every one of the new figures except the Sandtrooper.

I can honestly say that I have never been more le down by a set of figures. Chewie is ok, the Prototype Fett is good, but the Luke and Vader are nothing to write home about.

The paintjob on Luke's face is horrible and his legs look too short! He is also deathly skinny which makes his head look HUGE! lol To quote Dr. Evil from Austin Powers, He looks like a "frickin' Jack in the box!"

Vader is just horrible. His eyes are way too big (helmet, not actual face) and his mask is just so flat. There is no definition to it. Then, the top dome part of the helmet is just too small. Add to that the flat black paint that should have been shiny like Han's boots or something and it just keeps getting worse. His arms are also too skinny... they just don't fit.

It just seems like the quality of this line is just getting worse and worse. They started getting bad when Bespin Luke came out, and they have been bad ever since. Bespin Luke looks more like Droopy Dog, Anakin Looks like Frankie Muniz with long hair, and now Jedi Luke has freakishly short legs and bad painted crossed eyes and Vader... well, Vader is just a disappointment. It kills me too because Hasbro really showed us what they were capable of when sculpting helmeted figures with Boba and that beautiful Stormtrooper, but they really dropped the ball with everyone's favorite bad guy. I was looking forward to Jedi Luke and Vader more than any others as they were my favorites as a youngster, but I am extremely let down.

I will say that my experience with Walgreens has been a story in itself though. I have learned that each store manager is as different as night and day (some were really terrific and did everything they could to help me during my search... others didn't care at all and acted like it was an insult and just too much for them to do to even check their stock or computers for those numbers. My dealings with their customer service on the phone was also a nightmare Now I know which Walgreens to go to though if there is ever another exclusive I am trying to find.

That's disappointing to hear.

I was actually suspicious of that Luke. He doesn't have the right hair for ROTJ from the pics I've seen. Should be more neatly combed, parted at the side, 80's style.

I was hoping that the guy from Fwoosh was nit picking about that Vader, but now it seems not.

I really have no doubt that these will not be the last versions of these figures that we see if this line has any kind of longevity but it's still disappointing. Like someone else mentioned, at this price, these should be definitive versions. Guys like Boba Fett, pilot Luke, Sand and Stormtroopers, and Han I was prepared to shell out for because they seemed to be THE versions of the characters.

I guess I'll reserve judgement till I see them myself, but I'm preparing to leave them on the shelf if I have to.

People on the Rebelscum forums are already going on for pages and pages of posts discussing how to fix Vader. You shouldn't have to "fix" something this expensive right out of the package.

(I will say, though, that the nit picking on that site gets pretty outrageous. Example: I've owned that Black Series R2 for several month and am just now learning--according to people there---that he's "way too small". News to me. Some are also complaining that Chewie is too big. They put a pic of the toy Han and Chewie together with Han coming up to the top of Chewie's shoulder. Then they put a movie photo of Han and Chewie together with Han coming up to Chewie's shoulder. Ummmmm, OK, what's your problem?)

Still, reserving judgement on the Vader until I see him in person.

Cool hunts JMC & YJB....its always reassuring to find some good stuff in the wild again....I stopped at 6 WG's yesterday....all of em were sold out & 2 managers told me, all they received were 3 figures just enough for a bare minimum & there's an reset coming & then the spice will flow....& Xmas is coming so, the employees were extremely helpful, one dude was actually bummed out that they were sold out.....one manager told me they had Darth Vader & went to the back & came back w/3x Titan Figure Vaders.....I declined but also thanked him....the nearest 3 figs were in Sedona....so no dice yesterday or today but it'll happen I did manage to snag up an Black shoulder pad Sandtrooper so he's my Sarge for my SandSquad....I did like the way the employees were surprised how all of "us" were snagging up these figs especially w/an $20 price tag...they have no idea how we crave these figs haha....a few other's were even remaking how cool the figs were....good luck hunters duel.gif

Is Wallgreens the new KBs? Just kidding....nothing yet here in Ga.... Went there today after I've read your posts, just some Legacy Thrones figures. Still, it's great to know WG is now carrying these collectibles. A new store for hunting figures.

Nice. I don't have the money or the room to fill out the multi-colored ranks of the Sandtroopers and their orange/black/white/grey shoulder pads. I have one orange one and that's probably where it will stay. It may just be Chewie and Vader for me for this wave.

I'm in NC and found mot of them...all except the Sandtrooper. Take that stock number mentioned above and ask the employees to check for you. According to most managers, they aren't really supposed to be out until October / November, so a lot of stores are holding them in the back.

^Appreciate that bro! Thanks for the tip. I'll try again tom after work, I was lucky last year with BL during the Motuc sale, they were accommodating enough to,go back and bring out the figures a day earlier before being put out for display...hopefully I would have the same luck at WGs.

I notice people are bitching about pre orders for this figure all over (FB, Here, other collector sites) and something dawned on me, I don't see ANYONE bitching when regular figs that get pre ordered show up in the stores first.. Example, I read on Friday about HTS getting Leader class Jetfire and shipping later in the month, then I read about people in Canada and Virginia finding Jetfire but no one bitches "man that is unfair that they got them before my pre order".. It is only this Proto fett that has people losing their minds.

Pre-order incentive, also known as pre-order bonus, is a marketing tactic whereby a retailer or manufacturer/publisher of a product (usually a book or video game) encourages buyers to reserve a copy of the product at the store prior to its release.

Note this says NOTHING about pre orders shipping first, just reserving a copy.

I spoke to a manager of walgreens on Friday when I picked up my Chewie and asked her flat if there was a release date on the figures, she said "no" and then gave me info which I had read about but never heard from one of their managers, "they are getting solid case assortments of Boba around Nov 1st just like the Agent Venom". She was quite knowledgeable about the collectables.

This along with my experience seems like a very pleasant surprise as far as retail is concerned. Companies, just sell all your figures a Walgreens.

Scored the Vader today after work! Showed the number to the lady and she said I was the second person in today to ask for it. Difference was, I guess Varder wasn't there for the other guy. But he was for me!

I don't understand the hate that Vader is getting.

And neither do I. This is far from the let down some are making it out to be. Sorry, angiedee, I love you, you helped me score some great stuff in the past, but I'm not seeing the flaws that I've seen you and others point out. The "red eyes" may pop with a fanboy's extreme close up with the flash on his camera, but sitting in the light of my apt, there's no issues for me. The "smooshed" face? Just not seeing it. Dull helmet? Well...I see the light of my lamp reflecting off of it...I guss if I wake up one day and decide it NEEDS to be more shiny, I'll get the gloss coat. Anyway, the complaints I'm seeing here are nothing compared to some star wars boards I've seen.

My only gripe might be that you can't have him wear his vest outside his chest plate to make him New Hope accurate. Besides that, I'm happily checking Vader off my list.

Luke was another story. I had to leave him. He was not horrible, I just wasn't seeing a ROTJ Luke, not for my money. Like I mentioned above, I think the hair was off. I can imagine them doing another version of this one with a poncho or a cape and hood. I'll check back in then.

Otherwise, between Chewie and Vader, I'm sitting pretty good!

For anyone that has the Black Series Vader figure, just take it and compare the head sculpt to this Jakks 31" figure.

The dome that is the top of the helmet needs to be bigger on the Black figure. The mask part of his helmet needs to sit further inside than it does. Vader's facemask isn't pushed all the way out in the movies... it looks more like this Jakks sculpt. The face on the Black figure is just too flat. There needs to be more of a profile to it. Just hold your figure up to this pic and tell me that it looks as good. Maybe I am just too critical, but Vader should be perfect in every way... He IS the ultimate Star Wars villain. I own 18 of the Black Series Stormtroopers because they look so damn awesome! lol This figure just doesn't compare to the excellence that IS that figure. The Stormtrooper is the best figure in the line so far, and Vader sould be that awe inspiring. Hasbro got the dimensions and the proportions exactly right with the Stormtrooper... Vader is just a little... "off".

That's just me though.

I did, and for the life of me I'm still not seeing it. I don't want to come off as some sort of OT or Black Series apologist...like I say, I passed on that Jedi Luke because to me, he just didn't hold up. First Black Series OT figure I've passed on so far. But the Vader, I'm happy with.

Has anybody here found the Walgreens Boba Fett? I see people on FB posting the pictures but I haven't seen them yet....except the Marvel Legends

I have three of them. I found 2 Bobas and Jedi Luke at one Walgreens and then one Boba, Darth and Chewie at another. I still don't have the Sandtrooper.
