The Avengers - early bootleg cam release

I saw it, its not as good as i hoped but nowhere near a bad film, especially if you're a marvel fan. I think the first iron man is better, but i think this probably comes in 2nd. There are some scenes that they haven't shown that are really cool, and also some pretty funny ones.

I have a big gripe with the overall plot of the movie, but I won't say anything here eventhough i don't really think its a spoiler. I'll be happy to post about it after everyone sees it and is talking about the film.

LOL, I love how no one seems to say watching a bootleg is theft and theft is wrong therefor I am not going to do it.

I think that goes without saying. What also goes without saying is that if anyone posts a link or tells how to obtain a bootleg here, you will be suspended, maybe even banned

I see IM2 not so much as a commercial for Avengers as just not such a good movie. There were a lot of missteps.

Tony became obnoxious within the first 5 minutes. Between the opening with him showboating at that expo and the scene with him before congress, I already had enough of him.

The villian, Justin Hammer, was like watching an over the top 80's cartoon villian. Super cheesy and overacted, on par with a Schumacker Batman villian. Couldn't wait for his scenes to be over.

The War Machine recast was needless and I actually liked the first guy better.

This movie would have been the prime time to dig into his alcoholism, carrying it over into Avengers and IM3. Instead they went with the heart-magnet-is-slowly-poisoning-him plot. He gets drunk in one scene because he thinks he's gonna die...Huge missed opportunity.

I'm having a Marvel movie marathon before watching Avengers too. Gonna leave this one out. I won't feel bad,

On to the topic, bootlegs are usually crap that I can't believe anyone would actually pay for these days. It is stealing, no matter what justification someone uses, therefore it is wrong.

Unless its the Star Wars Holiday Special( just to irk Lord Lucas) or the 60's Batman show( limbo legal tape)

You're the only one in this topic to specify "buy/pay for" over "watch." To be clear, yeah, I'd watch a bootleg of the Avengers, but not buy one.

I would never pay to watch a bootleg either, but they are pretty funny to watch if you're not that interested in the movie. This is a movie I was on the fence about seeing, now i'll probably see it in the movie theaters because I think alot of the effects will be awesome to watch on the big screen.

I got to see an early showing thanks to the radio station I part time at. The movie was not impressive, it was ok but I still think X-Men from last year was a better movie as far as story. IMO the movie has some of the vibe of the Transformers movies and the ending stole ideas from the Superman movies and the DC story Kingdom Come. The best character was the Hulk and he has the least amount of screen time, he has two scenes in the finale that are the best EVER. I don't need to support people seeing it because everyone will see it, I do wonder though if anyone will be blown away. It was nice to see a team movie different from FF and X because those are team groups, The Avengers are made up of different properties which makes the team idea a lot more special.

Being that this is the most negative I've seen about the movie out of everyone that has seen it I am thrilled to be going to see it and hope that I am one that will be blown away.

The movie was not impressive,

You'll pardon me if I don't count on "DC Guy's" assessment ;) Didn't you also find fault with Captain America? One of the best comic movies made? :D

Anyway, I'm out of all Avengers topics from now until I see the movie. Safer that way. If I truely find it unimpressive as well, I'll come back and say you're right.

I don't have anything to prove to Marvel zombies. I thought Captain America was the worst and still think so today, I am one of the few who enjoyed BOTH Fantastic Four movies. I don't have to like everything everybody else likes. Yes I loved Green Lantern better than Captain America and Thor......so what, I am an individual and what I like is not defined by others. I never said I didn't like Avengers but that I was not impressed, it is on the same playing field as every other superhero movie from last year but with a little more action, the plot wasn't deep, not that it needed to be and elements were stolen from DC movies.

me too. I have heard several people say that it is the best superhero movie ever (although I find that hard to believe). But it's not surprising he didn't like it.

I'll see it soon enough

We will see, funny how all the Marvel guys love all the Marvel movies.......smh.

Well I'm not going to give spoilers but all I can say is that it seems more influenced by Kirby's New Gods DC work, but I agree with Superpowers comments although i think it was better then the last Xmen

im a marvel guy, and both FF movies were not done well...at all!! and green lantern was one of the worst comic book movies i've seen...the movie ended in 5 minutes!! the only thing DC is good at are the animated movies, but marvel is good at those too!! i didnt like ghost rider, but havent seen the new one. the only thing left is Batman, and its done after this last one. and i've liked the Batmans, but not sure whats going on with this new one!!

the avengers have been building to this moment for the last few years now, and every DC fan wishes the samething was going on with JLA, but its not, and they are a long way off before they do!!

But on topic, im one of those guys that if i know im gonna like it, im gonna pay for it, and dont wanna watch it on some crap cam...but some people will, cause they have nothing better to do!! if its out there, keep it away from me!!

actually, I usually prefer DC movies and cartoons. I loved both Bale Batman movies, the first 2 Tim Burton Batman movies, Christopher Reeves Superman movies, and I find that I am one of the only people that really liked Superman Returns.

it's unfortunate that other than Bats and Supes, nothing else from them has materialized into movies.... except for GL, which I didn't like very much at all. Mark Strong/Sinestro was the only good part of that movie.

I'm more of a DC guy myself. I actually liked Green Lantern, but I'd be lying if I thought it was a good film. I agree about Sinestro and feel that if a sequel ever got made, he could redeem the series as a lead.

Still, as much as I love DC, my favorite movie last summer (wife's too) was Captain America. Actually used it in a sermon illustration Sunday in church. I also cannot wait to see Avengers. Word of mouth so far has been out of this world and seeing it on track to beat out Dark Knight on Rottentomatoes.com (my current fave along with the first Superman) is enough for me to get giddy with every TV spot I see. I already have plans to see it twice this weekend.

It is funny how even though I liked X-Men as the best superhero movie of last year many people on this forum attacked my position on Avengers. I like superhero movies, sure I am a DC guy but I also do like Marvel.

Funny you mentioned Batman because I only like the first movie with Keaton and the second with Bale, all the others I do not like but that fact will be lost the next time I criticise a Marvel property. It is just sickening the mob attitude by Marvel fans if you disagree with them and in this case most of them have NOT seen the movie. Sure I love DC and think Marvel is ok but I enjoyed X-Men 3 and the newest one, both FF movies, Iron Man and the first Ghost Rider movie. Looking back I did like the first two Spiderman movies but now I don't care for them, especially since ALL THREE of the Spiderman movies are rips off the first 3 Superman movies.

People mention Green Lantern, I have yet to hear a truly critical explanation about why it is so bad, it was a good movie, pacing was perfect, the action was perfect and it wasn't nearly as boring as the middle of Thor which only the beginning and end were good. I would love an honest debate on the flaws of Green Lantern and an honest debate on the positives of Captain America.

The Avengers movie lacked the charm IMO, it really copied a lot of themes from other properties, especially DC.

You want a truly critical explanation for Green Lantern? The special effects were bad Ryan Reynolds head looking awkwardly on the CGI body for one, characterization was off Hal Jordan quitting on the first day and whining to Carol over how he couldn't make it that wasn't Hal Jordan that was Peter Parker mixed with Kyle Rayner. The villains were awful Hector Hammond wasn't compelling at all and Parallax turned out to be a giant yellow turd ripped off from FF movie Galactus. The Alien designs.... ugh!! the Guardians of the Universe actually going forward with the idea of creating a yellow ring when in the comics they are dead set against other corps and other rings. Green Lantern wasn't bad but it was extremely disappointing I still watch Casino Royale, Goldeneye, Mask of Zorro and Edge of Darkness and I wonder how a director that directed so many movies that I loved directed Green Lantern. If you loved it then yeah good for you but the fact that you don't see everyone's problem with it it's just pure blindness, especially when the only ones I have encountered that defend this movie tooth and nail are Hardcore DC fanboys who think DC is the second coming and I can count them with one hand. Yes we know you praised both Thor and Xmen FC but hated Captain America and apparently you found Avengers unimpressive, fine, all that everyone said was that they disagree with you so far because of your tastes YoJoebro even said that if he thought you were right he would come back and admit it how is all that an attack??? Also you are generalizing not all of us "Marvel Zombies" liked all of the Marvel Movies in fact if you read this thread carefully several posters have criticized some marvel movies as well as praised others YoJoebro criticized Iron Man 2 even stating he wasn't gonna watch it again so your point is moot.

There was plenty last year when the movie was out and being discussed regularly. You wrote off all criticism and accused anyone who pointed out flaws as being "followers" of the critics.

I don't call you "DC Guy" as an attack. Hence all my smiley faces showing love

:D:P;):D:P;):D:P;)

The special effects were not bad and wait till you see the Hulk in this film, a step down from the last movie. Yes the CGI suit was bad and I have no defense for that but I do admit that once the movie was underway I did not notice the flaws anymore. The characterization was not off, Hal has always been a cocky ladies man who had difficulties because of his father issues, people have contrast and I have noticed that the average person only sees people one way and not all the different things that make up a person. You can be insecure about a particular issue and a self believer in another. Just like they say about Michael Jackson, he was shy on a one-to one basis but on stage he was a tiger, same with Hal he has insecurities that have been exploited in the comics while at the same time being a self believer enough to go against the guardians, this is the Hal we saw the modern Hal Jordan that we has been written for the past 20 years or so. HH was good, they provided reason for him being how he was, different because he was brainy and treated differently.....how deep was he compared to Dr. Doom or any of the Spidey movie villians.....same level. Parallax was a let down in terms of looks but I liked the new story, seriously if these complaints you have with GL then you must hate the Spiderman movies, the FF movies and all of the first 3 X movies because not a single one is as deep as GL. You are only quoting yojoebro but others have always attacked me on Marvel stuff because I am a DC guy.

I only liked the first Spider Man movie, second was ok, hated the 3rd. I really don't like the FF movies at all. The first X-men was good but it was too Wolverine driven and the sequels were downhill from that. You finally hit the nail on the head You admit there was flaws but once the movie was underway you overlooked them. That's what I was trying to say it's one thing to like the movie everyone is entitled to their opinion but whenever someone said otherwise you got upset and took it as an attack. I'm gonna say something now in the nicest, friendliest way possible and I mean it, You are a nice guy, you seem like a decent person and you know a lot about both comic books and movies but you seem to be under the impression that everything you like or favor are the best things ever created and if someone disagrees with you they're wrong or are attacking you and until you realize that everyone is free to voice their opinion and disagree or agree with yours you're gonna keep getting a lot of "attacks" and negatives.
