Still, what ended up in the movie was pretty good and would have been even better if the movie was only set on Eternia.

Good find. I didn't know that McQuarrie was also invovled in the MOTU movie. It sucks that two character designers of the MOTU died recently. Moebius, a popular French artist, also died recently. Here is his concept artist of the He-man costume:
