DC announced they were doing several Prequel miniseries of their Best Selling Graphic Novel of all time.

Naturally, Alan Moore, the original writer, is opposed to it and has had some strong words about it.

Sounds like a natural next step for the new DCU. This company has gone down hill quick.

Moore is one of those talented curmudgeons that, after a while, you just have to tune out.

Ahh you guys are harsh. I think this sounds like fun, I mean its been over 20 years, its time to reopen that vault. Besides maybe we might get comic dc directs this time, god I could only hope. I mean I still have the old tomarts with those pictures in them. The movie figures were okay, but damit I want comic figures. And if I have to suffer through new media to get them then by damn I will support this series...lol. Hell I could dream for a multi pack from matty, wont happen but damn would that be sweet.

I think people are prematurely flipping out over these.

 

Wait until they announce the Sequel by Geoff Johns. THEN flip out.

 

Personally, I have little interest in reading these. I don't think the hype can live up to whatever is actually written. I'll check them out eventually if I find them in clearance boxes next year, but if I don't, no big loss.

Everybody points fingers at Dan Didio for making this happen, but I think this is how it really went down when new DC President Diane Nelson came aboard.

Diane:"So I'm having trouble deciphering our TPB catalog. Which of these books are sequels to the Watchmen book?"

Dan:"Er..well none of them. See, it's sort of a stand alone book. And it's quite revered by fanboys so we--"

Diane:"Wait. Are you telling me our best selling IP is not being routinely milked for every last cent possible?"

Dan:"Wellll...ermm. Yes. Sorta. Yes."

Diane:"............"

Dan:"*gulp* Because it's sorta a stand alone story and its very revered by fanb--"

Diane:"I'm gonna cut you off right there, Dan. I don't give two spits about fanboys. I care about stockholders. And I'm assuming if you care having your job next year, you will IMMEDIATELY set about cranking more Watchmen books out right the $#%@ NOW!! Capische?!?"

DC is a business. They sell comics to make money. They've obviously done some market research that says this would sell.
