I always think of ML Toad when this kind of discussion comes up.

I remember seeing a ton of these when they first came out, I thought "no way I want a toad, who would?" fast forward to 15 waves later and I am scowering ebay for a decent deal on it... oh well! Figures come and go, and I can't get caught up on these.

When it comes to being able to "call" what will be valuable... I totally suck!

I remember when the 25th GI Joe line was first appearing on shelves, my local target had 3 Snake Eyes with Black Timber and one with the grey timber. Given this distribution, I figured the grey one was more rare, so I bought it, along with only one of the Black Timber SE's. Then a few weeks later, the Black Timber version was going for around $100 on ebay. :( lol

A few pop to mind, DCSH Black and Grey Batman, Dragon Man from the FF Classics wave 2, the Masked Captain America ML Icon.

I wouldn't count these as unexpected. They were released at the end of a toyline meaning only a small amount made it out. I don't even think Dragon Man was released to a national retailer like Target or Walmart.

I guess I just thought of these because of what I paid for them versus what they go for on EBay these days. How about the Marvel Universe Vision (full color version) or the X-Men Orgins: Wolverine Colossus and Astonishing Wolverine 2-pack?

My sealed Ninja Gaiden Trilogy games for SNES... I got them all for $40 back in 1995, now they go for $450+ on ebay...

My Mega Man 7 for SNES, and my MOC Bandai Mega Man action figures....

Also my whole Biohazard/Resident Evil sealed collection from PS1 - Game Cube...

My MIB Sideshow Friday the 13th 3D Jason, which I originally got from sideshow at $40 now seems to go for $150+ on ebay

My MOC Super Powers Robin figures both USA and Canadian card versions, they now seem to go for at least $80 on ebay...

As for modern action figures, Id say my MOC DCUC wave 16 modern head Robin...which I paid $12 for, and now goes for at least $40+ at online toy stores...

Mine are the Resaurus Sonic Adventure figures... I bought them for 6 dollars and are now going for 75 plus on Ebay... What are yours?...

Oh man I remember getting the first Sonic Adventure figures back in 2000. I could never find the second Resaurus wave in my area. 893Grumpy-thumb.gif

My Sonic and Tails ended up falling apart. Knuckles stayed in good condition, but I sold him since he was only figure left. I couldn't bring myself to paying outrageous prices for replacements and the second wave of figures.

I still have the Joyride studios Sonic and Shadow from Sonic Adventure 2 in good condition. The value of those figures has went up extremely high too.

The DCUC dynamic duo two pack is now priced at $100 and up. I'm really glad I found that at my walmart. I'm not sure I can say it is unexpected though, because it seems like Batman merchandise always goes up in value or is scalped quickly.

I was 12 when Beast Wars premiered in '96. Now I'm 27. Looks like those looking to re-capture their childhoods are now adults and probably have well paying jobs for them to re-seek those figures.

Yeah, sounds like you and I are about the same age, though I was never into BW, both my younger brothers were. It was pretty cool from what I remember, but they had all the toys and figures.

Ive thought about just buying a crap load of whatever toys are popular now to keep them in a box for 20 years to resell them. Seems to happen alot, people get older and try to rebuy their toys from childhood.

I've always wondered how well the movie Transformers figures are going to age value wise. A lot of kids are now growing up with these Michael Bay films.

lol but will they really be hard to find... even stores get stuck with peg loads of that crap ... I think you would be better doing something like prime or whatever the last series was with the lil android girl ...
