The potential death of Duke, You said it so it isn't spoilers If Duke is no longer the number 1 military character it would be a radical change from the Joe we know now. Could that be part of the reason the toon, staring duke, was ditched? Traditionally toylines anchored on a minority character to poorly (that was the whole reason the amazing static shock was cancelled as a toon.) Can roadblock be the new face of Joe? Here is a great question, how did Roadblock get passed off in the first one, and his spot given to what many consider a clone, his name band in IDW, and now he could be the "savior" of the Joe movie franchise? How did all this happen?

 

My mind is so blown!

 

For those of you mentioned Se's rubbery look, he appears to be wearing two costumes. One is the ROC version with no lips (still rubbery) that appears to be wearing at first when caught. His second costume ( a little samurai looking actually) appears just fine to me.

 

This really looks like G.I.Joe to me. Cobra taking over the white house, Soldiers with big guns, ninjas in red cloth! and did I mentioned CC?

 

Remember we haven't seen everything either!

 

Are there a few concerns? yes. I would have prefered blue/black and maybe red for that White viper (neo?) and I would have prefered Firefly wear a mask and our Joes wear helmets. But those minor in comparision to all the things this gets right. I'm honestly shocked and some of the complaints!

 

So many positive things to say, I'll come back when i have more time.

That might be the case since Duke appears to be an expendable character - He was almost killed off in the animated movie and was made as a traitor in the DD's Gi Joe "Ultimate" like comic. I don't mind if the comics start making Roadblock the main character. That would be cool. I just hope Hasbro doesn't follow suit changing TR's ethnicity. Just that Tunnel Rat is the token Asian Gi joe in the entire joe universe that isn't a ninja.

Yeah I'm not quite sure why the lack of a mask is worth complaining about as

I'm not expecting ray stevenson to don a mask the entire time on film.

 

Speaking of mask I do like the fact that they are going with CC more common

chrome plated look. I also like the fact that the helmet is shaped like a cobra hood

which is a nice touch imo.

I think it looks awesome. Love the direction. I dearly hope Duke gets killed. Firefly looks like an Elite Viper when he's got his kit on. I hope we get a leather jacket figure version as well. I hope we get another awesome civilian type vehicle like the Steel Hammer.

This movie is looking to overshadow that POC first movie!!! Too bad it's not considered a reboot and do away with that awful first one!!!

 

I still think Sienna Miller looked hot as the Baroness, too bad they watered her down so bar in the first!!!

I like how the movie isn't as Sci-fi as the previous film. This movie looks more like Gi Joe to me.

 

This was what I thought too. It looks more like a military/espionage-themed movie, but with over the top action and ninjas and stuff. I never watched the first one and have no real desire to, but this one looks like it could be fun.

 

Cobra Commander looks like Cobra Commander, and the original Cobra Troopers were guys in blue uniforms, so that look works for me. I'm actually kind of excited to see the toyline now.

 

I think if they tried to fit 20+ Joes in there, it would be unfocused and most of them would just end up as cameos anyways. Everybody who grew up with the toys obviously has favorites and it's fun to imagine a movie with all of them there, but I don't think it would really work for a two-hour movie.

I concur. I believe the toyline for this film will be better received by many Joe collector than the previous one. Hopefully that

will pave the way for more classic characters to be incorporated.

Get over the rubbery suit. You can't make a skin tight outfit look good without it being rubbery. (Batman, Spider-man, Snake-Eyes) It's never going to be the Marvel Comic or Sunbow Cartoon. They have to make changes to translate things into movies. I'm sure firefly doesn't wear a mask in most of it because they hate hiding people's faces in movies because the majority of the acting people do is with their face. That's why the Green Goblin's "eyes" open up in Spider-man and why Bane in the new Batman movie has a more open mask then in the comics.

 

 

Why would Snake Eyes have to be wearing a skin-tight suit? He isn't a superhero in spandex. I think they should have made him look like the all black POC figure.. you know, the amazing one.. (he wears a sweater).

 

As for Firefly.. even without the mask, he doesn't look like FF. He is wearing a leather jacket or something... he could at least have some grey camo paramilitary type gear on... give the dude a beanie that pulls down like a ski-mask for when he is doing his sabotage thing... etc

Is there a particular reason why he can't wear a form fitting suit given the fact that's he's

worn them in various Joe mediums? Not to mention its much easier passing off the rubbery

suit as something more durable and protective as oppose to a sweater. As for Firefly, given

the fact that no one has seen the film yet, you can't draw such a premature conclusion

based on a trailer under 3 minutes long. Perhaps he will have a more traditional Firefly look

in the span of the film.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the lack of Ripcord Wayans in the trailer which is the biggest plus. I think the trailer looks pretty sweet but then again I think I'm the only one who enjoyed the first movie(I lknow.. Sacrilege), it wasn't the greatest movie ever but I enjoyed it in a weird way. In my opinion the problem with a G.I. Joe movie is pretty much the same as a Transformers one there's so many material to choose from that odds are that the an aspect of the toyline/series they choose from is not gonna be one you like. In G.I. Joe's case there's like 6 cartoons series not to mention the comics and animated movies so looks and character history is going to vary. For example Lady Jaye's profile says she's from Massachusetts but it also mentions that in the UK action forces line she was from Ireland. What I'm trying to say is that with a franchise like this there's always gonna be different opinions on what the characters should look like or which one should get the spotlight or make an appearance(I'm a fan of Commander Cobra wearing the hood). I for one would like for some of the characters from the 90s DIC characters to make an appearance like Sub Zero, Bullhorn and maybe Capt. Grid Iron but I understand they are less known and more popular characters take precedence. Again this is my opinion I could be wrong just thought I throw in my 2 cents.

Don't worry Belmont13 you're not alone, I also enjoyed the first movie. I'll add to an extent. However, the trailer for Retaliations

seems so much better than the first and looks like it will cater more toward the fans. Looks awesome so far and I can't wait to see it.

He looks more like firefly than POC firefly to me and that guy was a hit among fans. He also has more of a firefly look than the sigma six incarnation and he has some fans too. I accept that it won't be a 1:1 transfer, and with all the urban camo of the last movie they may simply be trying to distance themselves from that and help distinguish firefly among the cobra from the blue shirts in there as well.
