Penn State and the cover-up.

I thought that I would start a new thread so that the football thread would not get thrown off track.

Basically, the gist is Jerry Sandusky, the former defensive coordinator at Penn State of 20 years and coach there for 30 years, has been arrested and charged with 40 counts of sexual abuse with children involving 8 young boys over 15 years. There were instances where the abuse took place in the Penn State football facilities and I will let you read the details in the link because they disgust me to no end. I think there is special level of hell for any adult who does this to children.

Now the other facet of the story is Joe Paterno, the iconic coach, and did he do enough when these things were pointed out to him. A grad assistant saw Sandusky sexually assaulting a boy of approximately 10 in the showers at the Penn State football facility, and reported to Paterno, who in turn reported it to his AD, who then passed th news along to another administrator. Yet at no time did anyone at Penn State say "hey, maybe we should contact the authorities". Disgusting. First off, the grad assistant, who is now the receiver's coach at PSU didn't step in and help this kid who is now damaged for life. No, he called his Dad for advice and then they went to talk to Paterno. He should of stepped in and kicked Sandusky's ass and then called the police on the spot.

As a father of two, one being a nine year old boy, I can't fathom how anyone could be as sick as Jeff Sandusky and I hope when convicted, they release him into general population and announce who he is. Everyone at Penn State who knew about this but failed to call the cops should be fired and not allowed to retire on his terms no matter how many wins they have.

Just my two cents.

child predators should just be put into jail for life.

Really? I was thinking more along the lines of bullett to the head...

I was reading the laundry list of kids this guy was allowed to assult over the course of 15 years and it's was shocking (nothing really shocks me much, this did). Basically this guy should have been handed over to the authorities long ago...think of how many kids would have been spared if justice was done the first time! Instead, since he works for a high profile organization, this gets swept away.

My question is, how many children did this bastard abuse over the years? He started his charity in 1977, and these charges relate to cases starting in the 90's. I doubt he woke up one day after working with young children and decided that sex with them would be a good idea.

no.. actually that is the way I feel too... I am all for the death penalty for people that do this sort of thing.. and even better, I think the parents should have the option to kill the guy if they choose too....

but I have heard many times that my feelings on this and the death penalty in general are too harsh lol

Now they're rioting at Penn State over Paterno's firing. Wow. Someone on ESPN said yesterday that they are living in a bubble there and that bubble needs to burst...how true! This guy had a hand in a child sex coverup! These are his consequences! EVERYONE involved in this had to go, but these rioters want special treatment based on popularity!!!

The only outrage over the firing is the fact that Mike McQuery, the GA now the Receiver's Coach who could of stopped a ten year old from further rape, still has his job while JoePa has been fired. He is more criminally negligent than any of the other's who have been fired because he witnessed this heinous act and did nothing while he could.
