Hey I got an easy question for all your customizing masters out there, how the heck do I split the torso on these new joes so I can switch arms? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I know one guy said he wraps the fig in sock, the puts the fig in table vice, the tightens until snaps apart (not breaking the fig). He placed the fig with shoulders touching the vice.

I personally would be a leary of doing that. I would not want to risk breaking the fig.

I have only gone as far as replacling from the elbows. And that can be tricky.

Guys like Jin or Mintcondition might have some better answers.

I know I want to fix the arms on my Joe regulars (from the Firefly vs Joe 5pack) buttt I'm too chicken to boil them and slice them up........

I use a flat screwdriver and insert it into the back of a figure (going from torso up towards the head). Then I use a little force to crack the torso in half. Granted, I only did this on only two 25th figures, but it worked well without any parts breaking each time.

I have question, so after you do the mods. Did you have to glue the pieces back together or did they just snap back on with no problem?

Well I popped open an extra Shipwreck just to test it out with some vice grip pliers and it worked well, some of the tiny pegs broke inside but they will easily glue back together, only thing is that the upper torso just flops around once back together, its so loose, nothing was missing that wasnt there before so how do I tighten the torso back up?

They snapped back, but fell apart if you shook the figure too much, so I glued the pieces back on after I swapped out the desired parts.

Hmm, I have the same issue with a custom He-Man torso I put together with some arms and legs from a couple of Marvel universe figures. I suppose you can coat the peg connecting the upper and lower torso together to thicken it and create more friction. However, I'm not sure what you can do if you already glued everything back together.
