Was anyone else disappointed in the New York Comicon?

This is the third time I've gone.

It was much bigger, but not really better. I didn't really see much that was new or interesting.

Just my opinion, and probably not worth much.

If anyone else went, I'd be interested in what they thought.

Ive never been excited by the big cons...i mean, most unveils are also instantly revealed online, or even before the shows(leaked or official). And the economy certainly doesnt help when it comes to lack of surprises...scale it on back, folks.

I miss the old days of small conventions...no commercial whoring, nerd-sex selling, internet...

i hoped for a little bit more for dcuc but i guess thats the way it will be since they stoped with them at retail. other then this wave 20 awesome, larfleeze aweome and ome repainted batmans look awesome to. lantern and batman 2 packs. well i guess it was ok but i give it to hasbro this year with the new marvel legends. i was surprised with all the variants they come up with.

Me, too!

I remember back in the 90's when the BIG APPLE COMICON met in the basement of a Church on 59th Street. Now it's getting as big as NYCC (and run by the jerks at WIZARD, I think...)

And YES...the "nerd-sex" quotient is off-the-charts. Seriously, folks...it's comics, NOT Penthouse. If you want sleaze, then buy sleaze...

Wow you're the first poster that I see refer to the Wizard people as jerks.... Ive felt the same way for years now, about some of the as*holes behind the scenes at Wizard and Toy Fare...

The WIZARD crew are total punks. Their magazine is NOTHING but a shill for the BIG comics publishers, particularly DC and MARVEL, and to a lesser extent, IMAGE and DARK HORSE.

Their "reviews" are ALWAYS positive because their income depends on advertising fees from the same companies (DC, MARVEL, etc) that they're reviewing!! It's a total sham!

And then their ding-bat editorial staff takes left-wing pot-shots at "big business", oblivious to the fact that they work in publishing AND advertising, two HUGE industries.

To top it all off, the $6 price-tag is simply not worth the cost of an increasingly thinner magazine with NO breaking news of insight.

Yeah...WIZARD sucks.
