Sting appreciation thread.

I figured it's time we had something nice to talk about over here in the wrestling section after all the bad news that we hear about drugs, lawsuits and other negativity.

To me, one person stands alone at the top of the "good guys in wrestling" list.

Sting.

I've never heard a bad word about him from anyone. He's always been a great performer, constantly reinvents himself (with actual distinct character changes, not just switching from trunks to tights etc), and above all has morals.

His feud with Vader was legendary. His respect for the fans and the business is humbling. He's also a talented actor and businessman.

I just can't give this guy enough respect.

Let's hear some Sting love!

I love the fact that I always hear about him taking the moral high ground, especially when it comes to the WWE. There is a ton of truth in his assumption that former WCW guys would be treated like crap after the buyout. He chose to go his own way rather than cash in a big paycheck to go to the WWE.

Also, I've never heard his name involved in any controversy. Other than Flair saying he wanted to drop the NWA title to Sting back in the day because he deserved it, but the big wigs thought otherwise. Even then, I never heard anything about him whining backstage about it.

I really think he was underappreciated throughout his career. For what he brought to the table night in and night out, he should have been the top guy more often than not.

I used to love the Flair/Sting hour long time limit draws that kept you on the edge of your seat up to the last second.

Like DH mentioned, I love how he has been able to reinvent himself several times over. Even the ones that people tend to not notice. Like the Sting before he went Crow. That was no where near the same 'surfer' Sting that had made a name for himself. He was more serious and showed that he was a veteran in the business when he was in the ring. He was no longer the green, rookie kid with all the potential to be someone. He was someone, and his persona changed. Even Crow Sting went through a variety of subtle changes that seem to be lost on today's wrestling fan.

Sting's done it all in this business, and I'm happy he's still giving us a little more. This is a veteran that is not tarnishing his legacy by hanging around too long. This guy is still giving us great stuff during an age where it seems the younger guys can't distinguish themselves from one another.

It'll be a sad day when he finally hangs up the tights. I'll hate to see him go. I can only hope that the future of the business will look to guys like him to learn what it takes to be relevant for almost three decades. Because when it comes to continued relevance in this business...This..is..Sting.

That's another thing that Sting does that is unheard of in wrestling these days.

He never complains.

Did he complain about having to wrestle a drunk/ drugged Jeff Hardy? No, he just went out there and did what he needed to do protect Jeff and himself whilst trying not to let the fans down.

I can't watch Bobby Roode spout crap every time the camera is on him that he's been wrestling 13 years so he deserves the title and respect. GTFO, Bobby. You don't deserve anything. You EARN it.

Nearly everyone else (Kurt Angle especially) constantly reminds us how great they are due to the injuries they've sustained.

Then you have wastes of flesh like Matt Hardy who try any online means to be popular, using every single type of smark gimmick that he can.

Sting doesn't do any of that.

He just loves the biz, works hard, and has unfaltering morals and charisma.

The more I think about him, the more good things I have to say about him.

He's the guy everyone should aspire to be. Not just in wrestling, but in life in general.
