UPS: The Drop and Go Saga

Recommended Posts

So I'm sitting at home today after I got off of work thinking "Hmmmm, I wonder where my MOTU subscription figures are for this month?" This order contains 2 Teela and 2 Faceless Ones.

Now I'm not a person that needs my items right away but I did have UPS lose a package of mine last year with $170 worth of Playmobil toys in it. So I tend to get concerned when they ship things for me.

I go online and look up my package and lo and behold it says it was delivered 3 days ago.....to an address two towns away from mine. Oops!

Now I spent about an hour on the phone with UPS customer service trying to work out how I can retrieve my order. The lady was very nice and helpful. She said that the driver messed up, mis-delivered my pacakge and she's not sure why because all the information was correct.

Now its going to be a waiting game, to see if they can get my package back.

And do you know what the best part about this is....I can't help but think, why couldn't they mess up my Retro John Stewart order instead of this order with the sold-out items in it....I could just go online and buy two more of him right now!

More to follow.....

Ya, this type of thing is really frustrating.

I had that happen with Battle Cat and He-Man...I accidentally entered my PO Box when I placed the order, and UPS contacted USPS to get my street address, and USPS gave them my old address. Luckily, my phone number was on the shipping receipt, and the people who who lived in my old house called me.

That sounds like progress, Matty should atleast honor new ones if UPS says they lost the package.

Wow! Good luck! This happened to me once with UPS and it was the old Toyfare Faker from the 200X line! That pissed me off and I had to get one on the second hand market! Ive had much much worse luck with Fed Ex than anyone!

So I talked to UPS yesterday and they said they "think" they found my package...thats a quote....I asked them what that meant. The lady on the phone says that the driver was suppose to go get it back but she hadn't talked to him yet to verify if he did. So thats where I'm out right now.

O.K. I talked to UPS on Monday and was told to expect my package delivered on Tuesday.

Tuesday came and went with no package.....

I remember USPS leaving my package(3 '84 Marvel Secret Wars figures) on top of my garbage tote in the backyard.Hang in there Cappy!

So I talk to UPS on Wednesday and now they don't know where the package is....there might even be a possibility that they delivered it to the same wrong address again!

So I called Matty to check if UPS had notified them like they said they did. The woman on the phone didn't seem to know what I was talking about. I'm not saying that UPS hadn't talked to them, but the woman at Matty seemed alittle clueless....about more than just my order it seemed to me.

Thursday will be another round of phone calls....

So the Thursday update: I called the lady at UPS...who I am now on a first name basis with. She tells me that I should just consider my package gone and to try to get it replaced.

So I call Matty again. I get a gentleman on the line and explain the whole situation to him. Now, just like the last rep I talk to, he tells me that it will be 24 to 72 hours before I will receive an email telling me that a case has been open to investigate my lost package.

I explain to him that UPS supposely already contacted them and told them the package is gone. And since the shipper said they would pay the claim, then I would like a replacement sent to me.

He again told me the same 24 to 72 hour email statement as before....and I mean a statement like he was reading off a cue card.....

So I said to him point blank, will I receive my items? Or will I hear two weeks from now that they are sorry but the items are out of stock and give me a refund instead?

There was silence on the phone for a minute and then he said yes but he said it like a question. Like he was hoping he was saying what I wanted to hear so I would get off the phone....

I told him I was holding him to his word and he said o.k. and said have a good day and then hung up the phone...

Dont worry though, this story will taking a startling new direction in my next post!

Thursday Part Two:

So not long after I get off the phone with the phone rep in the last posting I made, I notice a pm on this website from Toyman65. In this pm, Toyman65 provides me with the direct phone number to the USA rep at Matty.

After about 10 minutes on the phone, I get my old order cancelled and a new one set-up for me. As a side note, the rep on the phone was helpful, spoke english as his primary language and took care of all of my questions and needs.

After I got off the phone, I received a confirmation for my order. About a half a day later I received another e-mail stating that my order was shipping!

All I can say is this:

Toyman65: you are a gentlemen and a scholar! Your help is very much appreciated and you have my thanks!

LMAO! Aww come on guys it's was really no big deal.

Captain Triumph was getting no where with the regular Matty CS number as those calls get out sourced to god knows where and they hardly speak english. Someone once gave me the very same number I sent to Captain Triumph and it helped me out a lot. It's just paying it forward the way I see it and I would have done it for any of you. Toy Collectors need to look out for each other. #US1#

And the Saga continues:

So Friday, I received an e-mail saying that my two subscriptions have now been cancelled!

I call the number that Toyman65 provided to me, so I can get my subscriptions re-instated. I get them both set back up again and I ask the lady rep what happened.

She says that my intial order was sent back to the warehouse by UPS for not having a valied address!

So what happened was, I notified UPS of the mis-deliver of my package, they picked it up from the wrong house they delivered it to, and then they promptly sent it back to the shipper!

Wait till I give them a return phone call about this!

Also, my subscriptions can only be sent via USPS according to the lady I re-instated them with. She said UPS was no longer an option for shipping.

With the issues I'm having with UPS, I wasn't heartbroken by the development....

When I started this topic I thought it was going to be an amusing example of UPS and their knack of dropping my packages off at my house without getting me to sign for them or anything!

Now the story never seems to end.

I checked the status of my new order and found out that they failed to deliver the package to me again! They had on the tracking screen that my address doesn't exist and that they were going to send it back to the shipper.

I live in a very small town were my apartment complex is the only three story buiding there...and the address for the apartments is on a big hanging sign next to the main street!

So anyway, I spent the next 2 hours calling between two facilities trying to keep my package from going back to the shipper again.

Supposely they found it and are going to deliver it on Monday...but it was sugested that I call them at 3 AM to ensure that it gets loaded on the van for delivery...

I said while I was at it, maybe I could come in to the facility with some coffee and some Egg McMuffins for the loader and the driver....cause you know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and all...

And then when were done eating and chatting about stuff like who Paris Hilton is dating and why evoluton is a myth, I can do a pre-inspection of the van to make sure its D.O.T. qualified, fluff the drivers seat cushion and then go out with him to deliver my own package to myself....

The woman on the phone did not find me funny at all.....

She obviously has no sense of humor. I'm not one to ever believe the customer is always right, but suggesting you call the facility at 3 am to get your package delivered is so ridiculous it's funny.

At least I've been keeping my sense of humor through this!
