Yeah its kind of ironic.... but at the same time they said he was going 110 mph in his mustang and went through a bunch of trees and caught fire before he fully crashed. He was also allegedly drinking while he was doing mach 10 on a 35mph road in Pennsylvania. Id say thats kind of an epic way to die. Its ashame he also killed the passenger, who I have yet seen been identified. I saw a picture of the his car after and it didnt look at all like someone could fit in it let alone look like a car. Its lucky that he didnt hit another car and do even more damage. Its sad, I too liked the guy and always thought he was pretty funny. Crazy thing is just last week he was on "minute to win it" with steve-o.

they said he had 3 miller lites and a couple of shots over a 4 hour span. to these guys, that probably had zero effect on his driving skills. He was probably completely sober. he was probably just going way too fast

Ya, I read the same thing...can't remember if it was in the article I linked, or another one.

That little alcohol, over four hours, probably isn't going to impair anyone's driving ability. However, doing 110 in a 35 is probably just as bad as being drunk and driving the speed limit.

Always sad when a life is lost, but this dude was being extremely reckless and like others have mentioned, his actions caused the death of someone else and could been worse if he hit someone else. It is his fault and I can't help it but I don't feel sorry for him, that was beyond reckless and the potential for damage and death was almost like asking for it directly.

We can kick around hypotheticals all day long, but it didn't happen. He didn't run into a bus load of children, a nursing home, and a parade of priests. However, being over double the legal limit of alcohol does slow reaction time and impair people into making brash and moronic decisions. And we can say that happened since he was going three times the speed limit.

He didn't deserve to die (for the most part, most people don't deserve to), but acting that carelessly it's not shocking or jaw-dropping. The real world has real consequences. It's a shame he acted like such a fool with someone else in tow. If someone wants to throw away their life so carelessly, that's one thing. But don't drag someone along with you when life seems so unimportant.

I would still say he made a stupid mistake. He was a nice guy. I liked him. And it would definitely be sad. Of course, he would deserve life in jail if something like that happened.

I think drunk driving is one of the worst things you can do because of the consequences. But it doesn't exactly mean that the person drunk driving is a monster. Their intentions are not to hurt anyone, they just have horrible judgment at the moment. It's not like Ryan Dunn would have purposely ran over your hypothetical family of four.

I agree with Clam, but the guy said himself he was drinking with friends; if Dunn was so impaired that he didn't see a problem with driving off after drinking so much, then why didn't anyone around him stop him? As crude and insensitibe as Ebert's comment was, he was right in a way. (I would never have chosen his wording, of course...)

I always try to see and hope for the best in people, so I'm hoping that none of his friends knew he had left in a car, especially as the driver. Surely to goodness someone would have stopped him had they known.

I always thought he'd die doing something really ridiculous like having explosives in a toilet and then use it or something.

He did...he drove drunk which is about as ridiculous as you can get.

That being said I am not going to hate the guy. I don't know him and I certainly am not glad he died. Maybe this will serve as a big of a lesson to some and perhaps prevent others from doing something so reckless hurting more.

A few years ago my cousin died because her boyfriend was driving drunk. Left her daughter parentless as she died and he went to jail. Terrible.

I don't want to dismiss the fact that he was driving drunk here, because that's bad enough in itself...and is a horrible choice. I'm sure most of us have made poor decisions when we're drunk, including choosing to drive (because we're not THAT drunk). I know I've done my share (not in quite a few years, mind you), and always regretted it the next day, but this went above and beyond just being drunk behind the wheel.

I've heard he was going anywhere from 110-140, in either a 35 or 55 mph zone. The speed limit doesn't really matter, and the difference between 110 and 140 doesn't matter either. I don't care if you're drunk or not, that's some pretty stupid $h*t, and I don't really think it even matters if you're intoxicated at that point...it's probably not a smart idea and it's probably not gonna end well.

Either way, it still sucks, and I'm not really sure the point I'm trying to make here. @lol@

It's always sad when someone loses their life in a car accident...no matter what the cause is.
