Know, O prince, that between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, and the years of the rise of the Sons of Aryas, there was an Age undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars - Nemedia, Ophir, Brythunia, Hyperborea, Zamora with its dark-haired women and towers of spider-haunted mystery, Zingara with its chivalry, Koth that bordered on the pastoral lands of Shem, Stygia with its shadow-guarded tombs, Hyrkania whose riders wore steel and silk and gold. But the proudest kingdom of the world was Aquilonia, reigning supreme in the dreaming west.

Hither came Conan the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet.

And also destined to drink many tankards of foaming ale and crush the heaving bosoms of lusty wenches to his mighty chest!

I have been a Conan fan since my father bought me issue 59 of Savage Sword of Conan: The City of Skulls. Then it was the books, then the movie, then more books. Over 30 years later, I am still not tired of re-reading the stories.

I blame Cap over at Joe Customs for me making this  . His fantasy work gave me the inspiration. Thanks, man! This is now the third Conan I have made, and the best, IMHO. I wanted a cross between the Frank Frazetta/Boris Vallejo paintings and the interior artwork from Savage Sword of Conan magazine.

I modified the head with green stuff. I wanted a more flexible result so I could move the head without breaking. The Warpath hands are set quite wide, so I wound some thin leather thong around the handles of the sword and axe to help them fit. I used a piece of face cloth as it looks reasonably like fur. I found the belt while looking for other parts. It was a no-brainer for this custom as soon as I saw it.
