The Third Party Toys Thread

I am going on the record, third party toys generally give the fans what they truly want. Stupid Hasblow and Takara are hellbent on giving kinda-sorta what fans want. I think the fact that third party toys exist means that these official companies clearly aren't doing the right thing by collectors. Think about the Devestators released in the past couple of years versus the Devestator third party release. I don't have it but boy I want it.

Hasbro isnt ready to spend money on legal fees yet... I bet you they will when one of these 3rd party companies makes it really big...

So in other words, they dont'have the liscense to make them, but I see them as customizers.. unless that's illegal too.... @grumpy@

selling customs of something based off of copy righted stuff could well be & most likely is. Also these guys are at the point where they are almost mass marketing the items so it goes far beyond a simple single custom figure

I'm not sure it's really approaching anything that could be considered mass marketing yet. I mean, let's say a run of 3000-5000 pieces (just guessing); it would be a drop in the bucket compared to what Hasbro churns out for your average TF. I hope it doesn't come to this, but if these guys start getting taken down by Hasbro and/or TakaraTomy, it would be hard for me to continue purchasing official products.

I understand why Hasbro wouldn't condone it, but aren't they just as guilty? Generations Sideswipe/Sunstreaker/Red Alert transforms into a car that looks very much like a Lamborghini. Generations Prowl/Silverstreak/Smokescreen transforms into a car that looks very much like the current Nissan Z.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't see any kind of info on the figure or packaging giving them license to use the likeness of said vehicles. Same goes for Sideways from the TF2 movie.

Good point... Maybe someone should ask Hasbro on the next Q & A?...

Dealers will not be able to sell 3rd party toys at Botcon... This could be the death of Botcon...

they can keep them in hotels & car trunks & make deals on the side @smilepunch@ @loll@

" dealers will not be allowed to sell anything that was not made or licensed by Hasbro, Inc. and/or Takara Tomy. "

I wonder if this counts for other product as well ?.. Or just the KO TF stuff

What is the story of this character?... Who would buy her at that price?...

Don't forget for another $2 you can upgrade to a Collector's grade! @smilepunch@
