Disney/Pixar's CARS 2 Toys General Discussion

They've released the toyline for CARS 2. My kids have some of the characters from the toyline, and they love the movie, but I haven't been a collector of the CARS line.

See, I have a problem with the first CARS movie:

[soapbox] @soap@ That being the love interest, Sally, was a Porsche Carrera. You just CAN'T have a car named SALLY and it NOT be a MUSTANG (

).

Sally should have been a 2006 Shelby (Cobra Mustang) GT 500. At the end of the movies end credits, they should have had a clip of Sally taking Lightning McQueen to meet her mother, Eleanor. Eleanor would have been either a 1973 Ford Mustang Hal McClain Mach I, or a 1967 Shelby Mustang GT 500.

[/soapbox]

Anyways, I'm a huge Mustang enthusiast, and wanted them to put a Mustang in the toyline.

When the first movie came out, there was a commercial for Hertz Rent-A-Car that used the CARS characters, and they made a special rendering of the 2006 Shelby Mustang GT-H, at that time, that was Hertz colored black with gold racing stripes. I was hoping they'd make a toy of it, but, alas, they did not.

In CARS 2, they got Brent Musburger to voice a character, based on him, that is a classic 1964½ Mustang coupe named Brent Mustangburger. This is the first Mustang made for the toyline.

I'm hoping they use the Brent Mustangburger mold to make different colored Mustangs. Plus, I hope they make a newer model Mustang for the line.

There's three other cars I plan on getting from the CARS 2 line:

Holley Shiftwell - Jaguar XJR-15

Finn McMissle - Aston Martin DB5

Nigel Gearsley - Aston Martin DB9R

David Hobbscap - 1963 Jaguar Coombs Lightweight E-Type

Professor Z - Zundapp Janus

Cruz Besouro - Volkswagen Beetle (that I will customize into Herbie, the Love Bug.)

There are so many cars 2 toys to collect. My kids love to collect the die cast vehicles. The problem is I will probably go broke trying to get them all

It seems these Cars ... uh ... cars ... are a huge cash cow. I never saw these things leave retail like most movie lines do. The Cars from the first movie were still up on shelves when Cars2 product started coming out. They could do a ton with this line really. I'm sure it has to do with licensing and what not. But they could be a great step up toy for younger kids to get into Hot Wheels. If they had characters modeled after real cars it would be really great. I'd love to see what they can do.
