Your Dream Joe movie...

Recommended Posts

So There's rumour that the Jon Chu will be directing the G.I. Joe sequel with a few recasts. Unfortunately JGL is one of the recasts that may occur; of course it would be the best actor in the lot. Topics like these may have shown up here before, but considering the recent news, I figured JUST FOR FUN, what is everyone's dream Joe film?

Hawk - Tommy Lee Jones

Duke - Thomas Jane

Flint - Thomas Haden Church

Lady Jaye - Ashley Judd

Cover Girl - Bridgette Wilson

Snake Eyes - Jason Statham

Roadblock - Ving Rhames

Low-Light - Ryan Phillpe (See Way of the Gun before you judge me for that one)

Stalker - Jamie Foxx

ShipWreck - Dennis Miller (all I can see & hear when I watch the original show)

Beachhead - Woody Harrelson

Cobra COmmander - Edward Norton or Crispin Glover - someone who can play an average nobody who goes nuts.

StormShadow - Tony Jaa

Baroness - Catherine Zeta Jones

Destro - John Malkovich

Firefly - Benicio Deltoro

Zartan -

I like the idea of an older Joe team. Considering that they are supposed to be the best of the best, I figure they should be seasoned veterans.

Instead of awkward flashbacks or a scene about Destro's ancestors, the movie would start with the original Joe team being extracted from a black ops type mission and getting into a terrible accident that injures Snake Eyes and kills a few other members. A scene that takes place years later with Stalker tracking Snake Eyes down to a remote cabin where Timber is hanging out would be awesome.

A movie with the occasional Bond-like gadget or vehicle with better military advisers (no giant earrings on Heavy Duty would be nice) is what I wish they would make. Something where Scarlett isn't Lieutenant Data from Star Trek and Duke isn't some stupid idiot who shoots an effin missile at a humvee KNOWING that Snake Eyes is underneath it... damn movie. Personally, I thought Resolute was on the right track, obviously making it a bit more kid friendly with better dialogue would be ideal though.

to me they should do it more serious. you know more real. with the great gadgets and vehicules but not so funky and fun with gigantic explosion. boom boom boom and done. more of a war movie then a popcorn movie. i like the idea of older characters. they play more serious then the team we got as of late. lets see where this dude brings the franchise. it seems that he knows what he is talking about and what the flaws were on the first movie. maybe we get surprised. i know a guy who worked on piranha 2 and is now the biggest director of hollywood. so even if dance flicks are his speciality, he could surprise us. oh and please no acceleration suit. keep it real.

Well they've got my dream Joe movie right now.

A director who's credits are a biopick for a twelve year-old and a handful of dance movies. Who better to direct a summer blockbuster.

All we need now is Kevin Spacey as Duke and Samuel L. Jackson as Destro. "I'm tired of these mother-@#$%*& Joes..."

This could be as big as Leonard Part 6!

You might want to keep in mind this credo from Roger Ebert: with regards to Chu's previous films, that "a film is not about what it is about, but how it is about it."

I have done loads of lil' kids shows, but I can also do action-adventure material too--so having done one genre does not preclude being unable to do others. Don't write Chu off so quickly.

But, in any case--I think if they just continued along with ROC as they have planed I think it could turn out just fine. I enjoyed ROC a lot, and I'm okay with more of the same.

Your picks are very well thought out and I would like to see a Joe movie with them in it regardless of how old they are now.

However for my DREAM JOE MOVIE, I would have to pretend time does not exist and all of the actors I pick are in their PRIME.

HAWK - Clint Eastwood

DUKE - Kurt Russel

FLINT - Slyvester Stallone

SCARLETT - Jessica Biel

SNAKE EYES - Ray Park does a good enough job for me. He doesn't speak, so just go with the action performer that was Darth Maul and the Headless Horseman.

ROADBLOCK - Tom Lister, Jr. (Friday, The 5th Element)

STALKER - Carl Weathers

BEACHHEAD - Jason Statham (although he's not from Alabama)

COBRA COMMANDER - Gary Oldman

DESTRO - Gerald Butler

BARONESS - Lucy Lawless or Angelina Jolie

STORM SHADOW - Jet Li

Hawk: Kris Kristofferson

Duke: Wentworth Miller

Lady Jay: Parker Posey

Snake Eyes:Ray Park(why change a good thing)

Scarlett: Kiele Sanchez

Roadblock: Shaq

Cobra Commander: Willem Dafoe

Storm Shadow: Jet Li

Zartan:Sean Pertwee

Destro Dolph Lundgren

Baroness:Cassidy Freeman

Doctor mindbender: Tom savini

the plot would revolve around Cobra creating a biological nerve agent called "venom" and GIJOE is called in to stop Cobra from using "Venom" to attack various countries across the world such as Moscow, North korea, USA and China

My dream GI Joe movie has nothing to do with who plays who or or who directs.

My dream GI Joe movie has GI Joe as a Real American Hero, not afraid to actually wave an American flag for fear of loosing a foreign audience.

It would have Cobra as a ruthless terrorist organization.

And it would actually try to tell a story instead of being a "Turn off your brain and watch" action flick.

Well, I suppose you have a point there. His resume doesn't exactly scream G.I. Joe.

God, I haven't posted here in a long time...

Now while that's true, have you actually ever seen his Step Up films? Every aspect of those were bad, aside from the choreography, which he himself had nothing to do with. As far as my dream movie goes, I care less about the actors than I do the writers, director and producer(s).

Director; Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, Green Zone)

Producer; Luc Besson (The Professional, The Fifth Element, Ong Bak, The Transporter 1-3, Taken)

Writers; Paul Haggis (Quantum of Solace, Casino Royale, Letters from Iwo Jima)

Neal Purvis (Quantum of Solace, Casino Royale, Die Another Day, The World is Not Enough)

Robert Wade (Quantum of Solace, Casino Royale, Die Another Day, The World is Not Enough)

With that sort of background shared amongst those guys, there's no way you wouldn't get an amazing action film packed with military/sci-fi elements. Just get some good actors, doesn't have to be A-listers but stay away from over-paid cardboard cutouts like Channing Tatum.

Nice. I was thinking Clint Eastwood for Hawk too. The big decider for me was who I thought would give a better "Yo Joe". If we're talking anyone in their prime though, I'd go with John Wayne. Gerard Butler and Gary Oldman would be amazing in those roles. Statham has the right look for Beachhead, but I just think Woody Harrelson is perfect for that part.

Lot of people think Ray Park was good as Snake Eyes and I agree (minus the unfortunate molded mouth that wasn't his fault anyway), but I want Statham as Snake Eyes because he has a good look for pre-accident scenes. He'd probably still not say anything because I don't think Statham OR Park are able to speak without an accent. I also like Statham's fighting style that you see in the movies more. It's less flash and more kick your ass.

Spystreak, I admire your "in your face" attitude

die fighting, really good point and really badass choices too.

I would like to see Adam Baldwin as Beachhead, because I liked him in Firefly. He seems like he could play a good tough guy like Beachhead.

Holly balls, you're right! He plays a tough-as-nails secret agent on the show Chuck. He'd nail it!

Really?! I have to see this. Is "Firefly" a movie?

TV show by Joss Whedon and then they made the movie Serenity. Both pretty good.

and yeah, he'd be a really good choice for Beachhead too.
