not really feeling series 1.... something about their sculpts are just...... off. they are definitely better than the older MK offerings but each one looks off just a bit... altho sub zero looks by far the best IMO.

mehhh. i knew it. i am dissapointed. they go on where they left off. so they realy put holes in the swords??? lol. so i will skip them once again. well still hope on the 4insh line. if they hit it with them then i will get these but honestly i doubt it.

The bodies are a step in the right direction it's the head sculpts that leave a lot to be desired especially the painting it looks like something a kid did. I'll wait for more images or to see them in person before I decide if I buy them or not. Although I will probably just get Sub Zero since he's always been my favorite.

Man what a let down. I was hoping for at least somthing at the Sota level, and those were sculpted 5 years ago. These look like they were sculpted years ago and shoved onto a modern card, they just look dated to me. If these had hit in the late 90's I would support them, but times and techniques have changed. Sad that MK still doesnt have a decent toy line after 20 yrs.

And the saddest part regarding that is the simple fact that Mortal Kombat has such

a visually and aesthetically intriguing group of characters that would make ideal

action figures. A company like Sota managed to make even simplistic SF characters

beautifully sculpted figures. MK is definitely a product that deserves such treatment.

They need a definitive action figure line.

i agree with belmont here. the bodys seem good. i checked them again last night in peace and harmony and noticed that the arms give them a cartoony look and the faces are too. paint app isnt realy great either but that i can fix. still i wait for the first reviews and i will look into it one more time

  • 2 weeks later...

I saw the prototypes at Toy Fair, and they were pending approval as well as the 20th Anniversary Sonic Figures. There will also be Street Fighter figures. The Mortal Kombat figures look good considering the size and price that they will be sold at. I know I will be getting them in as I expect them to be popular. I've seen lots of forums talking about them.

there were mentions like when they find the black arrows but I'm pretty sure the creatures in moira were Orcs. to my knowledge there has never been any Goblins on screen in the trilogy just Orcs

Before Merry and Pippin escape into the forest in the second film, they were being escorted by orcs and goblins. I believe a goblin nearly killed one of them.

I just finished watching episodes 1 and 2 of Mortal Kombat DOTR the animated series and i gotta say IMO it kix ace!!The fast pace techno music they play in the background during fight scenes is off the chain! It's a little toned down for obvious reasons but it still entertains. Were there any toy releases based on this cartoon?

You're right. I mixed orcs and goblins with uruk-hai and orcs.

I made the same mistake my first time watching the movies then I read the Hobbit and it explained Goblins ade a distant cousin to the orcs kind of like Wolfs and Dogs it also said Goblins don't like sunlight however I did some more looking on LOTR wiki they're were Goblins in the first two films and they had infact taken over the Moira mines shows what I know i guess

I like how this thread has COMPLETELY deviated away from its main topic... I came to this topic and then totally forgot what it was about with this orcs and goblins talk.... out of a mortal kombat action figure thread?!?!?! haha good stuff.

Conversations about Orcs are more imaginitive then the new MK offerings.

Great, now the Orcs are going to be all pissed off because you said that! Nice going spystreak (if that is your real name)!

I got the game last week and the more I play it the more sad I feel about how these turned out specially since this game has the best character designs I've seen in a Mortal Kombat game. If they wanted to capitalize on the game they could also release variants with the secondary outfits. Hopefully SDCC will bring better news.
