I'd buy them. More for nostalgic purposes than anything else, but I'd buy them. Just picked up the original Cobra-La pack still sealed.

Wouldn't mind see the guards or Pythona, I think I would pass on Golobulus though unless it was really well done i wouldn't mind a 6 pack 5 royal guards and Pythona and I still don't get why we haven't seen a Big Lob yet, on that note how about a Renegades (from the movie) and SGT. Slaughter pack, add Falcon and Big Lob and you got yourself a six pack.

 

I really think it has to do with the fact that there is a portion of collectors that despise the movie.

When you say Big Lob, do you mean in the 25th style? Because they did make a RAH style one for the collectors club.

I like to hate on Cobra-La, but in all honesty I'd buy all of these except Golobulus.

I am 100% behind getting modern era cobra la characters. I hope hasbro has plans to include them in the 30 for 30 30th anniversary line

I have mixed feelings about Cobra-La. Sure, it would be nice to see a Pythona or an updated Cobra-La guardsman toy, but Cobra-La pretty much killed my love for the cartoon series when I was a kid.

It's a shame we never got Pythona or Big Lob, thought to be honest I hate the current Joe design so unless they do Pythona in an O ring it won't mean as much to me. Big Lob can be bought with the O ring, he should of had a larger release than a convention exclusive.

When I was younger I used to reenvision that Cobra La were from northern Alaska. Golobulus was original an oil baron who headed up an oil drilling company in Alaska but eventually got into this organic manipulation/religon. They still had humans fronting a town and the oil business but secretly were all part of this huge secret La group. Cobra Commander would swing into town and try to rob the people blind. Once they figure out what Cobra Commander is about he is confronted by the La against his small Cobra group, eventually they make a pact and the formation of Cobra-La begins and they provide the big financial push CC needed to really make Cobra into a large scale force with the idea he would topple govenments and Cobra La would then dominate the world, of course he never returned and then the movie takes place off that different origin.

 

The spores would turn people into mindless drones, almost like zombies. They would turn the spores on Cobra Commander like in the movie BUT his mask helps filter most of the tiny spores and it left him semi-mindless, at becomes the slave of Serpentor. CC is saved from the final conflict, the La are completely destroyed and Serpentor rules, eventually due to CC's limited contact he is naturally restored and starts the civil war on Cobra Island that results in the death of Serpentor, who is holed up in the Terrordrome and assasinated by Storm Shadow.

I'd buy this over secert society that started cobra.

 

I'd also accept genetic manipulation. As a kid I wasn't a big cobra la but I can't deny i loved pitting my joes against the mega marines monsters or kenners aliens as a kid. When i first played resident evil I instantly thought of joe. So monsters could be done right, but they would have to be drastically altered for me to buy. As much as pythona is interesting, there are easily tons more female figs i want first (Jinx, DDP Jinx, VVV Jinx, Dr. Knox, Mayday, Bombshell, classic covergirl, even Vypra or Cadet Demming first)
