Are The Scalpers Also Going To Be In Pursuit After The Pursuit Of Cobra Line?

It's been awile sense I posted here.

I stopped collecting for a while because I thought the movie stuff was going to be the future of GI joe.

But then when Hasbro showed off the Pursuit of Cobra Line they sold me on again. I guess they finally answered my wishes.

The good news is that this new POC line looks really awesome. I just hope Hasbro dosen't pull the plug on it. But the bad news is that it also attracts scalpers.

I already found the Wolf Hound at a Toys r us in my area but I didn't see the Hiss v5 or the wave 1 figs. My guess is the scalpers beat me to them.

I was wondering if were all going to be competing w/ the scalpers again in the POC line just like we did in the 25th line. Because I think the scalpers didn't really scalp up the movie line, because I see the movie line stuff everywere, I even saw it a Target on the endcaps on clearance for $0.88 cents thats right $0.88 cents.

What Hasbro needs to do is bump up production and make enough to go around in the first place so we all can get ahold of it. I just hope it sells well so the stores can order more cases. I just hope it doesn't be like the 25th line were a store will only order 1 or 2 cases. Then what we have here is a bad case of Supply and Demand but in are case it would be a Demand and Supply.

Or is the scalpers are just going to be after the rare stuff like store exclusives, variants, army builders and figures that you only get 1 in every case or 1 in every 3 cases.

Because, I already heard that in wave 1, the Cobra Commander is going to be really really hard to find and the Alley Viper also because he's a troop builder.

And if the scalpers find out the info about this and then when they get ahold of the figs, then WATCH-OUT.

E-bay is going to become Evil again.

Okay, why would the above post merit a negative rep point? I guess the toggle is just a declaration of the immaturity of some posters.

In any case.......will POC be scalper-bait? I'm inclined to think.....no.

You said it yourself......ROC wasn't really scalped at all because there was so much of it. GIJOE is kind of saturated right now, so new protect probably will be spared scalping because so much of the current stuff is being discounted.

There's mixed signals about the rarity of the Cobra Commander figure. I'm certain I have read that Hasbro plans to release as many CC's as any other figure, but I can also recall some claims ( rumours???) that it was going to be a rare chase item. Hard to say on that one.

I think the bulk of POC will be easy to find, and that scalpers will go for other bait. GIJOE just doesn't seem to be the kind of stuff that gets scalped all that much.

I'm just waiting for him to tell us about how scalpers and the AFA are terrorists again...

@loll@ At least you come right out and admit it. ;) But seriously folks, this Rep toggle is pathetic and unnecessary. ANYONE can troll you and mess it up. It doesn't replace real respect among good friends. @usa@

Now, if scalpers are still out to corner ANYTHING on G.I.Joe, then they have their work cut out for them. I'm not worried. Movie figures never sell well and although these are more "Classic" figures, we probably have a good chance of getting what we want.

As far as Ive heard the figures haven't been seen anywhere. The wolfhound and Hiss have but that's it. I'm sure that people will be buying these fiigures and since so many stores sold Joe movie toys and they sold (don't let anything that is said fool you) I'll bet store carry POC more than the 25th line but less than ROC.

On a side note I'm sure the negative was because of the over use by the original poster of the term "scalper". Just because he saw a Wolfsound and didn't see a HISS he asssumes it was a scalper that took it, why? The HISS is a all new toy where the Wolfhound is just a re-release and might not be as desirable by someone.

Scalpers will scalp anything with even the most remote perceived value. There were a few hard to find RoC items (City Strike SE, Kamakura, even Paris Pursuit Baroness and Desert Battle Scarlet and Ripcord for a while) and as such, some one will snap up all they can find to scalp.

Fortunately, they are eventually caught in their greed and either wind up stuck with or more likely returning their unsold stock.

PoC will be the same. I'm sure something will be short-packed and that will be scalper bait too, but I've never not seen everything at least once going all the way back to the start of 25th so hang in there and don't feed the sharks. :D

I looked this guy up, he's a real winner.

Calling scalpers idiots. Calling people who buy scalped toys idiots. Multiple threads locked. And I thought Xorr was a broken record.

However, that "AFA are terrorists" thread was priceless.

Ok, lets grow up.

I'd have to admit those topics were childish and immature. But that is all in the past now.

I've changed my ways now, I just want to collect and discuss about GI joe in peace w/ all the other members here on TNI.

So lets start over,

I managed to find 4 resolute cobra troopers today at a family dollar store today for $3.00 each

So i guess the scalpers come and go, I can't and we can't control what somebody does in his or hers life. If they wan't to scalp so let them do it, If people want to buy marked up joes from scalpers then let them do it, because after all its there money anyway.

From now on I'm just going to focus on me.

Thats right, me being myself.

And to answer my Topic question I searched ebay and found this: click the bottom link

http://cgi.ebay.com/Gi-Joe-POC-Wolf-Hound-White-Out-Cobra-H-I-S-S-V5-Lot-/120591021899?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c13c8f74b

So I guess the scalpers are getting an early start, so if your intersted go ahead and make a bid.

I *DARE* someone to come up in my 'hood and try to take some Joes out from under me. NO chance of it. It's like kids trying to get Hot Wheels, they'll only see what I want them to see on shelves.

Hell just a week ago we finally got some new Joes in at TRU, all I let the staff put out was a wolfhound while I bought the other 4 HISS's.

That's right, got Newport News on lockdown like the Vick gang's back in town. Only 3 more weeks until we get Wave 1 in and got the exclusives coming in two. Time to send these off to AFA for some gradin'!

I'm not expecting the new Joes to be scalper bait any more than the previous Joe lines were, not just ROC but 25th figures as well. I realize there's a lot of anticipation for the new stuff (among Joe fans) but there was also anticipation for a lot of the 25th waves and I found all of them at retail. That's why I love GI Joe as compared to soemthing like DCUC or MOTU...it's a battle just to get ONE figure more often than not.

And let's be careful not to say "Oh, the scalpers beat me to it!" when you don't see something on the shelf. These things JUST came out.

Gasp! Just as much as HTS.com charges for the two of them, those filthy scalpers!

i went to the gas station yesterday. they were out of gas. can you believe it? f'n scalpers.

lol @loll@

LOL, yeah, I was this close to calling him on using the same "joke" twice, as well :)

who's joking? scalping is a huge problem. i mean, i know i'm the only true toy buyer in the entire dfw area. anyone else buying toys (or anything else) must be a scalper.

like yesterday I went to walmart to pick up some chicken and they were out of drumsticks. Obviously some scalper bought them all and if i want drumsticks, I have to go on ebay. wtf?

The only POC items that might be attractive to scalpers is the Cobra Commander which is said to be shortpacked already and possibly the Low-Light figure depending on how available it is made, but certainly will probably be the most sought after figure in the line.

Have to agree with you on that! Low Light I see being like Blowtorch hard to find at first and then available on the Hasbro site.
