Superman Movie Coming December 2012 & Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman & More Soon To Follow

Reported by JayC

Today during a presentation at the TW's investor day in New York City, Warner Bros. chairman and CEO Barry Meyer confirmed that a Superman movie would be hitting theaters for the 2012 Holiday season.

Meyer went on to highlight how DC Comics characters will be a key parts of Warner's future. Green Lantern will hit theaters on June 17, 2011 while The next Batman film will be released on July 20, 2012. Flash is very close to be greenlight and Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Mad magazine characters are also in development.

These will all be Epic Fail except for Batman.

Scenario:

Marvel is a bloated 5'4, 600lb man and JohnnyRebel is the guy who comes and sucks his teets, or better yet, Marvel is a twisted woman - cow and Johnny is one of its distorted abominations sucking its teets!

Movies are one area where no DC fan can argue against Marvel's superiority.

The Superman movies will forever be the blueprint on how to make a successful super hero movie. Spiderman 1, 2, and 3 were directly lifted from Superman 1, 2, and 3.

Marvel didn't make a decent movie until Spiderman which again was a rip.

I also find it ironic that most Marvel fans eventually hate Marvel movies....Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider, anyone?

Here's hoping that Nolan, et al will finally bury the whole Christopher Reeve/Superman aura once-and-for-all. They were good movies for their time, but none of them wold stand-up to today's intense fan-boy scrutiny, and it's time to move on, anyway.

Gotta disagree, Blade was a great movie!!!!

Yep I agree! And I don't think Spidey was a rip from Reeves Superman's. In fact I think they are far superior for the most part!

Don't hold your breath. Most of these movies have been announced over and over again for years. We're supposed to jump up and scream HUZZAH because they attach another new date?

Exactly. When it comes to DC movies, wake me when they actually HAVE something.

Spiderman 2 in some parts was like Superman 2

If you're going to bring up the part about him losing his powers, that's a plot directly from the Stan Lee comics in the 60's.

Actually I forgot about that part but it does haelp go to my point. As in superman 2 Clark reveails to Lois that he is Superman and Peter does reveal to Mary Jane that he is Spiderman

Also I do not care what happened in the 60's Do you think the people writing Superman 2 knew about a 60's storyline from Marvel?

I hate to be pessimistic but this sounds horribly ambitious. Warner Bros. has difficulty enough getting ONE movie to the theaters let alone a chain of them. Then there's the added problem of making a GOOD movie...

I agree. Making an announcement is not the same as making a series of films. To paraphrase yojoe, wait until you start seeing trailers to get all giddy.

But that being said, Warner is deparate to find a mega franchise now that Harry Potter is finishing up. I think they were hesitant to be financing TWO huge ongoing projects for the last decade, especially after the Superman Returns debacle. But seeing the success of the Marvel films and after Dark Knight earned $500m, with HP off their plate they can put all their attention on the DC brand. If they follow Marvel's tact of letting the COMIC people make the movie and staying out of their way (Geoff Johns is involved with GL and allegedly the story of the Flash film) they have a shot. In other words, whatever asshat was responsible for Catwoman won't be allowed near these films.

You know I wonder who greenlights these awful films??? Elektra, Catwoman, etc!! What suit said, this movie is gonna rock!!! I mean even if it's greenlit, if the script sucks; don't make the film!!!!

And Draven, you would be right. Even Marvel's worst movie is 100 times better than Catwoman or Superman Returns. Plus the first X-Men from 2000 was excellent. That was 2 years before Spiderman.

Respectfully disagree. I would take Superman Returns than X-men3 or Incredible Hulk any day.
