Helix' Harpies

Recommended Posts

Don't even call 'em "angels"... (of course Imageshack sucks - I'm sure there will be pics eventually)

Helix wouldn't stop bucking for her own team. Her take is that she knows what it's like to be underestimated just because she's got a pretty face. What better way to take out the opposition than with a team the opposition doesn't take seriously until it's too late?

Meet the team:

Andrea "Amps" Mehtor: Electronics

Amps saw The Matrix when she was ten years old and since then she's been hooked on and in to anything and everything having to do with computers and all they can do for us. When she was 11 her parents had a visit from Langley after an embarrassing "incident" that remains classified. She was recruited into the NSA's "Young Cryptographers Club" - a club which only ever had one member - by 11 and a half.

"If it's electronic and is hooked up to anything else in the world, Amps will stop it, break it or take control of it; whatever we need."

Kasey "Bullet" Thyme: Sniper

Bullet grew up so far north in North Dakota that she thought she was Canadian until she went to get her driver's license. Her mama taught her how to keep a good house and her daddy taught her to kill anything that could be eaten at whatever range she could see it. She never knew anything about the difficulties most snipers face until she went through training and couldn't understand why the rest were having so many problems. All she had to do was follow her daddy's instructions: shoot the damn thing.

Candace "Daisy" Cutter: Heavy Weapons

Daisy practiced ballet for years until she was grew "too tall" according to her instructor so she switched to basketball. She had a successful, if spotty career through high school and won a full scholarship to Princeton where she fouled out every game her first year. Her coach finally got wise and saved her for the last two minutes of every game and sent her in for "damage control"... she still only actually finished 3 games the second year.

A boyfriend at the time introduced Daisy to paintball and she had such a good time she joined the Army the next morning. There she learned just how much fun it is to watch things be destroyed and she learned the bigger the round, the more fun she had.

Anita "Double-Edge" Raseur: "Negotiations"

Hawk was not thrilled about Helix adding Double-Edge to the team. The fact that her record was sealed did not add to his feelings of well-being. Helix finally convinced him that there are certain tools that you only need occasionally, but when that occasion arises, no other tool will do.

Double-Edge seldom talks and when she does, it tends to be to her various implements of laceration. Any given night you might hear her quietly crooning to one of her machetes, her hatchet or her sword.

In rare moment of loquaciousness, she might explain that while she loves her sword, it's a might too "impersonal". She prefers the close work of a good Kabar, machete or hatchet. She does carry one grenade that is actually sewn to her person with the pin hanging free. Her feeling is that if she's ever in a situation her blades can't handle, she's not interested in going on.

Mary K. "Kaboom" Boomer: Demolitions

Kaboom's "previous" life was as an humble office administrator in Las Vegas until one day on her lunch break she watched an old casino get demolished. She was captivated by the glorious orchestration and beautiful majesty of watching an enormous edifice seem to fold in upon itself like a flower in reverse.

She soon became a "Demo Junkie". She followed her favorite demolition companies' projects around the country and eventually was fired from her office job. Taking this as a sign, Kaboom joined the Navy and became a Seabee. She was far less keen on the construction aspect, but she had a real knack for those times when it was necessary to remove the occasional "impediment".

Helix: Squad Leader

While on an operation Helix was holed up in a decrepit hotel waiting for the word and the only thing she could get on the tv was an old A-Team marathon. She took her inspiration from Hannibal and after much cajoling was able to assemble a team of her own. Many of the Joes aren't sure what to make of Helix' Harpies, but they learned very quickly NOT to call anyone "Farah".

Thanks.

The heads are all Star Wars: Deena Shan, Juno Eclipse, Sigel Dare and Leia Starkiller.

Helix's jacket came from MU Comic pack Storm.

I'm surprised you didn't try to use the MU Storm head itself for something? Maybe a Dreadnok?

Actually - that's exactly what I did with her. The Storm upper torso is a little too skinny for the Helix lower torso, but with the jacket you can hardly tell.

Meet Donk and Punch, the new Dreadnok recruits:

That's awesome man! I bought the Storm two-pack myself, just for something like this. Looks great!

Yeah Donk's head came from Talon Karrde, whose jacket is going towards my Covergirl custom.

WOW! fantastic work! is that helix stock or did you do some work on her? i seem to remember the figure not looking that good on the peg?

TM

Helix is a bashed figure. It's Roc Baroness torso, and Roc Covergirl legs with Storm's jacket and some paint. Her cigar is a piece of paperclip painted.

The funny thing is, Helix was a completely random deal. After painting the other two Helix torsos for Double-Edge and Amps I did not want to have to paint a third so I opted to be lazy for Kaboom and just swap heads. This meant I needed a new outfit for Helix and that's how the rest came together. Once I was done, she actually became one of the favorites for me.
