Scale Question

So, I was thinking of scooping up the ML Hulkbuster Ironman because it seems like it might display well with the MU figures. I've not seen one in person, though, and was wondering if it would be too big. I use the Hulk movie line figure for my display Hulk, and he is right around 5" tall. I imagine the HB is about 6-7" tall which would almost seem about right to me, but I don't know for sure. Anyone have the HB IM and know just how big the thing is? Would it look way out of scale with the rest of the MU? Or is it like the Ironmonger figure from the first IM movie line? Any help would be appreciated.

Based on the Tony Stark head sculpt inside the suit, would NOT be in scale with MU figures. The figure is larger than the ML Juggernaut figure, so would be horribly out of scale with anything in the MU line.

Good point, Arrow. I wonder what other 5" figures would go pretty well with MU? Is there a Dragon Man? Hmmm... to ebay!

Yup, there is one... but he's not a great looking figure.

But he'd work ok with MU.

I agree that this Hulkbuster is not really right with MU, but hey, go for it if you wanna. Or how about this... paint the thing blue, and then it looks a lot like the big Hulkbuster robot shown in the recent Hawkeye mini. Actually, that thing was more like Sentinel size, so this figure is too small for that...

Scale is never perfect. It's all about what looks "close enough" to you.

If someone has pictures of HB IM with some MU figs... now would be the time to bust em out.

Or you could just wait for the Iron Man 2 Hulkbuster that comes out later this year and looks to be in-scale with MU versions of Juggernaut, Hulk, etc...

Also, extreme artistic variance aside, the "official" size of characters like the Hulk, etc... is not nearly as big as a lot of folks seem to think they should be. I think the Hulk's never supposed to have been beyond 8 feet tall, for example (and usually not even that big..."Professor" Hulk was 7'6" for example).

They're not supposed to be 12 foot tall behemoths, which is what the equivalent figures from Marvel Legends would roughly equate to (they're about twice as tall as MU figures).

ML Hulkbuster is MASSIVE! He is one of the biggest ML figures they ever did, if not the biggest. So he would be way too big for your 5 inch Hulk (which I think is too big for the MU figures in the first place lol)

Like Jmac said, they are doing a Hulkbuster figure for the Ironman 2 movie line, but its not nearly as impressive, and has a different look to it.

Okay, I pulled out my old 5" Hulkbuster figure and had a pic taken of it beside the MU Iron Man figure:

As you can see, the 5" figure scales out much the same as the ML scale Hulkbuster did for the ML-scaled figures. Its larger, but not grossly so, compared to the MU Iron Man. Its got basic articulation, but it would still work out okay.

Thanks for all the replies. I've never seen the HB in person, so I wasn't sure.

I remember my brother having that 5 inch one when I was in my late teens. It's not too bad. I think I would have to give it a paint wash or something to help tone it down a bit. It looks like it would go pretty well in scale with the 5 inch Hulk too. I've seen them go for fairly cheap on the bay, so I might pick it up just to try it out. Thanks again for all the input.
