They made a smart move not giving Kamandi the stand!!!! LOL! What on earth made them think we would want him is beyond me?? Give us a Reverse Flash instead of that POS!!!

he is totally awful, its a shirtless boy with nasty cut off jeans in a stupid future world and tailored hair. There were a bunch of fans from various sites claiming they want him and for what reason I haven't a clue, he doesn't even really fit into regular DC continuity. He was part of the reason I created the post about what characters DON'T DESERVE PLASTIC and he was one of them!!!!

 

So why does Tyr "deserve" plastic?

 

I don't have any problem with them making Tyr, but he's much more obscure than Kamandi, he's also from an alternate future that was wiped out of continuity and recently brought back, he hasn't interacted with the "regular" DCU any more than Kamandi has. I mean, if you just like Tyr more than Kamandi, that's great, but I'm not sure why he's more "deserving" than Kamandi.

Hey everyone,

 

First off, what is up with that zatana pic? Geez, what happened to quality comic artwork? I guess porn sells to Teens.

 

Anyway, The only figures i'll buy will be the Green Lantern and Hourman. I'm glad people don't like Kamandi and Tyr, I'll probably pick them up in a couple of months when people will be trying to sell them for 5.00.

 

ONe thing i can say with all these walmart and target exclusives, that and the price hike... well let's just say.. look at how cheap marvel legends are now that everyone has shifted to other lines. DCU's time will come and i'll be waiting.

I'd say the 90's happened to comics. Half-naked women with over exaggerated areas has been prominent in comic books for the better part of two decades. Fortunately, the holographic, prism, bagged with 1 of 30 collectible cards and 15 variant glow-in-the-dark covers didn't stay around quite as long. (And, yes, half-naked women DO sell to adolescent men - probably the biggest demographic of comic readers.)

 

On point. I'm digging the Golden Age characters. Golden Age JSA roster is getting beefed up. Wildcat, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Hourman, Dr. Midnite, Green Lantern I, Dr. Fate, Spectre etc... Keep 'em coming.

 

I think Kamandi is a well sculpted figure and looks like his comic counterpart. I was never a huge fan and find him to be aesthetically boring, but that is neither here nor there. At least it'll be a story piece when guests ask why I have a half-naked Fabio look-a-like in cut-off shorts between Superman and the Green Arrow.

Kamandi wouldn't look nearly as bad if he wore an actual pair of pants instead of the cutoffs. Oh well, whoever buys Kamandi just for the BFA part, give them to me! More custom fodder for me to devour!!! NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM!!!

I like the fact that they gave us Kamandi. I enjoyed his stories when I was a kid and I very much enjoyed his feature in the wednesday weekly last year. Plus it gives me hope that we will see other non mainstream universe characters like Jonah Hex (my current number 1 want, come on mattel), Amathyst, Swamp thing, Gi Robot, Creature Commando's, Warlord and Captain Carrot (super long shot but hey, he is cooler than killer moth). It doesnt always have to be mainstream characters, I like when they throw us a weird character once in a while.

Only bummer with this wave is its a Wally exclusive. No way will I ever see the entire wave here, so its either ebay or begging on the boards, what a pain in the ass. I swear these wally exclusives make me want to quit this line sometimes.

 

Exactly! For those of you who don't think we should be getting a Kamandi, just shut up! Seriously no one has the right to say he should not be made, why because some do like him. Why begrudge someone else getting a character they like. Myself I personally am digging him because of my childhood connection. I applaud the 4H for making him!

I think the census is that more people don't like Kamandi than people who do. Come'on, in what fashion is he remotely interesting? Granted, I never read one of his personal books, but have read books with him featured in them, I just for the life of me can't understand the appeal. Another question, who would look cooler on your shelf, Tyr or Kamandi?

 

Also why is it that people don't like Tyr?

I feel about Kamandi the same way I felt about Forager. I'm not especially into the character, but I think it's cool they put him in the line. DC ain't all superheroes after all. Variety in the line is a good thing.

 

A good selection of DC's Sci-Fi characters would be much appreciated. As far as I'm concerned bring on Kamandi, Atomic Knight, G.I. Robot, Jonah Hex, Old-School Adam Strange, maybe even the Challengers of the Unknown.

 

BTW: For those who keep moanin' about certain characters not fitting into the "regular" DC Universe, the last I checked, that included the past, present, and future of 52 seperate parallel universes. Trust me, there's room for a one-armed mercenary and a kid in cut-off dungarees.

 

Of course he fits into regular continuity, he has always been a part of DCUC history but that doesn't make him anymore useless. I can see it now, setting up a nice diorama with the LOD invading the HOJ, while its being defended by the JL and.......Kamandi, teen boy in filthy cut off jeans. Even in a future setting he just looks silly, I would even prefer the Johnny Thunder humans than Kamandi....lol

yes the 90's ruined comics in a lot of ways and every thing you mentioned is the reason why. I remember running around trying to get all those stupid special covers, now i could care less. Even in the Superman/Batman comic, Supergirl comes to earth and immediately she was dressing like she should be in a dirty movie, her underwear were showing in ever frame.

A very reliable source trs on fwoosh revealed that either 15 or 16 will be a Target exclusive. I hope it is 15 and not 16 since Martian Manhunter is in that wave.

Oh oh, now Target gets an exclusive!!! Then TRU will want one, and so forth!! Well perhaps that won't be too bad, as long as they're spaced out!! That way Target nor TRU would have stock from figures Wal Mart already put out months ago!!! Each store gets their wave, and each stores hopefully would sell out!! So it could be a good thing???

I am not sure the rumor on wave 15 being true. I just saw someone post the wondered if Target would get a exclusive wave like ML had one at each store. So we shall see if its real or fan speculattion. I think it may be the later since Raven is in wave 15.
