Picked up Mortal Kombat last night, pretty good game. It feels more traditional, and all the moves are fluid. The Xray vision bone breaking is pretty cool too. I noticed that in my game case there was an activation code to be able to play online. I thought it was a little odd that you needed a code, and I think if you dont have that code you have to pay some fee or something. A little strange.

Yeah its to fight used game sales. If you buy it new you get a code to open the online multiplayer portion of the game, if you buy it used you have to buy it for 10 bucks off of PSN/XBL. Its pretty smart but at the same time pretty lame. I dont buy used ever so this doesnt affect me but shows you how much they hate used games.

 

 

Im awaiting my copy of the game in the mail today. I dont know why i torture myself in ordering games online when i could just go out and buy it right now... im just weird like that.

 

Also this weeks episode of MK Legacy was pretty weak in content. It was kind of lame but i guess they summed up the first batch of characters stories, now onto other more interesting ones. I was never a big fan of sonya, jax or stryker that much... at least as interesting characters. Jax was fun to play as but the other two I hated.

Well, I could be playing MK right now, but I was dumb and let my friend talk me into preordering it from amazon.com after he told me he "always" gets his games the day they are released with amazon's release date delivery. We both preordered our games the same day, and had them both sent to our work address (same address)...he got his today, and mine was just received for shipping by UPS today at 11:00am eastern time, with a scheduled delivery for tomorrow...wtf?

 

Anyone know Amazon's return policy, and if I have to pay for return shipping? I'm about to just go buy the game, and return my purchase from Amazon. They shouldn't advertise "get it the day it's released" if you're not gonna get it until the day after...

Okay, so I got a hold of Amazon, and they'll pay for the return shipping since it wasn't delivered on the release date...long story short, I bought the game and it's f*cking AWESOME!

 

I felt like I was in Jr. High again...and playing the game was like riding a bike...once you learn you never forget. It's all the same old moves, with some new tricks and a lot of the cheapness removed. My friend and I just spent the last couple of hours playing each other online, and I enjoyed every minute of it.

 

That said, some things I DID notice that need to be nerfed/toned down:

 

1) Raiden's superman move: Just like the MK of old, it's so incredibly fast, it's almost impossible to defend against...especially online, where there is a little lag. I can see people abusing this horribly.

 

2) Noob Saibot's teleport throw: Just like Raiden's superman move...so fast it's hard to get around...especially for character's like Cyrax and Kung Lao, who have slower teleports. All you have to do is wait for them to make their move and you have them.

 

3) Scorpion's Spear: Not that this is anything new, but he can combo into it so easy, it's just as cheap as it ever was.

 

For the most part though, the game seems to be pretty well balanced, with characters like Ermot, who used to be basically useless, being competitive against long-time favorites like Scorpion. It's nice that being blocked in some instances doesn't result in an instant Uppercut into a huge combo like the the old MK's, due to the way you bounce away from blocks now. The minor tweaks to remove the cheapness make this feel like an old MK game where you won't get sweep-locked into a corner. @lol@

 

I'm loving it.

 

And just because this is still bugging me: TONE DOWN RAIDEN! He's too fast for the slower characters and WAY too cheap. He's really the only major imbalance I see in the game so far.

My friend wanted to see some of my artwork, so I drew this sketch of Juli from Street Fighter Alpha 3. It has been a while since I drew humans. It is a work in progress, so let me know what you guys think:

looks pretty good doom, I dig the face, her overall body seems alittle big tho... like the core of her body and her right bicep area looks off.

 

 

Ive been playing MK all damn day since i got it in the mail at 2pm. Im trying not to do all of it and beat it all at once like some friends i know have been doing. The story mode is incredible and the story is pretty vast and nastalgic. The challenge tower is a really nice idea where alot of crazy and unique things you can do and I really like doing the co op tag team arcade mode. I was doing alot of that tonight with a buddy of mine that came over. Really fun stuff. The difficulty level is a bit crazy tho. I was playing on medium and just getting raped to no end and im no casual to fighting games. I played on easy and its not at all easy, its a good challenge. Most of the ladder wasnt hard up until you hit the last few characters before shang tsung and the other bosses. That is really my only gripe. Im so happy that they mustve fired the programmers that were doing mk games difficulties previously because pretty much every mortal kombat game has had some kind of crazy sporadic difficulty. Like you play on novice and beat the first 3 guys no problem then suddenly the fourth is just all up on your face raping your every move. Im so happy that this new MK is actually getting amazing reviews and people are loving it. Its like Street Fighter 4 all over again. Fighting games are back baby!\

 

 

That sucks Joe, Im glad that didnt happen to me... although it did with MvC3... 3 days later i got it so i know how you feel.

Thanks. I had trouble with the right bicep since I could not find any nude pics of women doing a salute in that perceptive. Used a picture of a shirtless male doing a salute instead.

 

The torso does look a little wide, which I can easily fix - I can delete the outline line and make one of the seam lines her new outline if you what I say make sense. Thanks! I also added a hip line, which made the torso look not as long since I think that, as well as the angle I took the pic in makes the body looks larger.

 

The neck looks a bit high. I will probably fix it with photoshop rather than readjusting the body by hand a third time. I kept having to shrink the body to make it look better. The head was originally too big, so I shrunk that first. Thanks for the tip since I think I have to shrink it more.
